WP Server Fan Club and how far is it from me | |

I've always guess that the wireplay server was pretty close to me(I guessed about 2 miles or 3.21 km if you prefer). So today at work I got a little bored and decided to find out. Wireplay's servers according to their website appear to be located on the Isle of Dogs, East London in Harbour Exchange. The site didn't have a postcode but from various other sites on the net I was able to tie down E14 9GE as its postcode. I'm more or less sure the post code is right but if it isn't, then its so close that it doesn't matter. Map of where the WP server is. I found this page that will calculate the straight line distance between two UK postcodes. So I punched in my post code and the one I found and I live about 1.7 miles (2.696 km) from the server. -QG- _______________ Bro of many in a very deformed family tree || Formerly a Padawan of Motrec, Kenyon & Aphex AKA Quiet Guardian, QG and Coogie This post was edited by Coogee on Dec 09 2004 03:58pm. |

I ping in the range of 0-20, no better than anyone really. Maybe if I asked nicely they'd put in a direct connection to my local telephone exchange (I live 400 yards from that ). Currently I get routed away about 3-4 miles to a exchange in Ilford and then come back into LINX(where most of the traffic movement is done in London) which has primary sites near and connected the WP servers datacenter. -QG- _______________ Bro of many in a very deformed family tree || Formerly a Padawan of Motrec, Kenyon & Aphex AKA Quiet Guardian, QG and Coogie This comment was edited by Coogee on Dec 10 2004 12:54pm. |

3th, open a command/dos window in windows and type /tracert server-ip-here (don't add the port of course). It makes some very interesting reading, especially when you get rerouted via 3 NZ servers o.O Me, I live about 30,000 kms in terms of routed distance from WP, Get a 400ms ping (thats +/- 10ms, very consistent, which I like) _______________ A wizard did it. |
