I'm probably a n0Ob for asking this, but how do I extract that .md3 file from assets1.pk3 for UMV mapping?

Wait, so the ZIP archive extraction code contained in Windows XP is not designed for extracting files from ZIP archives?

*runs* :D

I dunno about that stuff. :(

Maybe you have an option unset somewhere, or that's not set correctly.

Ok, problem number 2.

When I open saber_w.md3, instead of kyle's saber as pictured in the tutorial, I get some kind of grey crappy saber with no green or pink tags as shown. What's that all about?

!!!

Does anyone have any idea why this occurs, as it is reallly annoying me and I can't proceed :(

Isn't that like saying we should use Internet Explorer instead of Firefox? :D

Anyway, to be honest, I still use the microsoft windows thingy to open them with. It's just easier to tell people to download that than to ask if they have XP and such.

Alternative to PakScape: if you have Windows XP, go to Control Panel, make sure it's in Classic View, go to Folder Options, click the File Types tab, choose to add a New Type, check the Advanced box, type .pk3 in the text box, and select either "ZIP archive" or "Compressed folder" from the drop-down box.

If you have WinZip, WinAce, WinRar, or anything like that, they can open and save pk3's as well. pk3's are actually just ZIP files renamed with that extension.

Download and install PakScape, then open up your base folder and open assets1.pk3 with PakScape. Click into the models folder and search for the desired md3 file you're looking for. There should be an obvious, clear way (like a button) to extract the file to your chosen location. It may take a bit of searching around for, though. :D
