You're face lags and should be bant. Or burnt. Or whatever those polynesian buggars do... Grad, dude, 'complications' is far too simple. It's not that complex, and I don't mind admitting I'm a dork. Explination: I was on staff and had access to certain administrative-level powers. There were times, more often than not, that I would use them if the situation presented themselves, and some times when it did not. Some people did not know that I had that access to begin with, and others, after finding out that I had said powers, did not think that I should have them. Understandably, some also thought that I was trying to get on the fast-track to JAK (believe me, the idea did not just 'skip by' my brain, I thought about it long and hard), but at the time, the rule was that Staff members were not considered for the trials. Fubar'ed that idea. The official position on Staff members, from what I recall, as well as from my own experience as a cog in the machine, is this: Staff members have specific jobs and roles, and while they are not directly responsible for enforcing the rules, they report directly to those that do. If you are on staff to maintain the articles section, or the holocron, or maintain the java chat interface, or whatever they feel you could do to assist the community, then thats what you do. You may be privy to upper level access and communications in order for you to better preform your job, but that does not mean that you are charged with any particular powers to enforce the rules. Now in regards to that inparticular situation, it is not up to the staff alone to uphold the rule on language, but it is up to each and every member of the community to do so, and assist others in doing so (even if it means a semantical jab in the ribs). It is up to the Staff members charged with enforcing the rules, such as the Council, Trainers, and Knights. If the Council has deemed it fit for a Staff member to enforce the rules in the rare scenario that nobody else is present, then that is thier decision. _______________ I'm crazy, not stupid. |
