They say that life’s a journey, A road we all must tred. With ever-changing walkways, the unknown behind each bend. Now the road, it often changes, before your very eyes. Sometimes the tale it tells is true, But more often, though, it lies. You have to learn to know what’s there, And not what seems to be. ‘Cause if you don’t you’ll soon find out, The surface is not all there is to see. Once my life was an old georgia road. red with dust and dirt. And you walked with me, and you talked with me. When I laughed, and when I hurt. I thought the road would always hold, A space for you and I Naively secure in foolish youth. I never thought the road would lie. And all too soon you left me. Without a word or sound. All too late I heard the silence. All before I turned around. This ol georgia road is lonely, now. Without you by my side. But I know the horizon will change soon. As surely day brings in the tide. I’ll always remember this road I used. The red dirt and dust and friend. You traveled to paths I could not follow now.
