now i have 2 questions
1. your app isn't accepted, and you dont get a trial. later when you want another try, do you just email the JAC for another form or wait for the from on da site, or do you have to erm.. do something else. 2. your app is accepted, but you fail the trial. (read above after "dont get a trial" ![]() _______________ - Shadow Warrior |

Hey Doobie, if you need anyone to work on programming (trial stuff or anything else on the site that needs automating) I'd be happy to lend a hand. I have a life outside of Jedi Outcast too, but I can almost always find time for a small software project. _______________ My signature is only one line. You're welcome. |

Alright guys, i'm only gonna say this one more time. I'm sorry that this process is so ridiculous, but this is yet another drawback to us having real lives. Pretty much everyone JavaGuy suggested is in the works, but DJ has been extremely busy as of late, and simply hasn't gotten a chance to finish off all the changes. I know you guys are frustrated right now, but please just understand we're very busy. And i know you might say, well why don' you get another JAC or something? It doesn't work that easily. The only thing i can think of is talking to DJ and asking him if you can help out (if you know php and mySQL of course). Other than that, we ask that you keep having patience. Oh, and i think everyone's app has been accepted so far (but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll pass the trial, just that you'll get a trial). I'm trying to keep the JATs up to date on who gets trials, but just keep having patience. We'll get to you eventually. _______________ -Academy Leader/Dictator/Defeater of DJ Sith and JACen Solo in the JAK+ Tournament -I do think it (the JA) will help convert dozens, maybe hundreds, to the dork nation... --me |

sounds good, java! only problem... who should build that whole thing? alot work for trials... and this is only one rank!
but i agree that students should get a "no" or "yes". cuz currently they don't know if they are not accepted or just forgotten ![]() _______________ Aeth S'kray *June 2002 +September 2003 |

Shouldn't the bookkeeping part of the process be completely automated?
Ideally it should work like this: The applicant fills out the application on the web site and click the button to submit the form. After the Council makes its decision, one of them logs into a form that only they can view and enters whether the application has been accepted or rejected. Then the applicant receives an e-mail, automatically generated, telling him the good or bad news and any other information Council thinks should be passed along. If it's good news, every JAT also receives an automated e-mail saying that an applicant has been accepted. Better yet, each JAT should be able to log into a page to configure whether he wants an automatic e-mail notification or not. There should also be a web page visible only to JATs and Council members that shows what applications are currently being processed and what students have had their applications accepted. _______________ My signature is only one line. yeah so if no JAT talks to me i should assume i didn't make it? kinda dumb at least tell us yes or no... _______________ make install -not war |

think i got it now ![]() you first mail your request (or later fill out the form), then the council (?) decides who should be trialed and who not. the council gives every JAT a list of people they should trial and theese JATs should tell the learners. for example chosen and zero should trial me. i have to find one of them + a second JAT. got it? _______________ Aeth S'kray *June 2002 +September 2003 |

right now the journeyman trial process is, well, a pain in the arse. we review all emails sent to the fixtheja account and move them into "pass" or "fail" folders. we then tell the JATs what names have passed, and they do the trials and contact us on who passes. it's probably the least efficient way to do it, but it's all we got until (JavaGuy, here's the answer to your comments) DJ finishes putting the form on the site and we can make it official by posting an FAQ _______________ -Academy Leader/Dictator/Defeater of DJ Sith and JACen Solo in the JAK+ Tournament -I do think it (the JA) will help convert dozens, maybe hundreds, to the dork nation... --me |
