Want to dust off your copies of these old games? Want to have full mouse look, anisotropic filtering, light effects and real 3D models as well? Look no further!

http://www.doomsdayhq.com

It will even play the shareware version of Doom 1.

Have fun!

Uhm...actually...i always thought that the doomsday engine WAS kinda the whole "Doom Remake" thing...isnt "Doom Remake" just the official name for it?

Well...yea ive downloaded a kickstart programm which had kinda 500megs some months ago...on the title screen was written in big doomish letters: DOOM REMAKE

So i think we are talkin about the same thing?
Maybe i should upload some self-made screenys which we could compare?

Nevertheless...its really worth it =P
Especially for fans of the Doom Serie...

Ive played Doom1 and 2 thro with this engine already =)

I found a "pre-packaged" version of Kickstart jDoom out there that comes with new music, new textures, new lighting, etc. Its ready to go with everything installed and is also a 550 meg download, but worth it. It also requires the .WAD files. Its called "Doom Remake." You could probably piece some of it together yourself, but someone has it all set and ready for play.

Yup, its nice =)

Although i sometimes think that the .gif sprites of the original Doom were a bit more...detailed? lol (IE the cyberdemon or the hell knight)

Its a great thing tho...a bit complicated to use for ppl who arnt used to such things.
You still have to own the original doom games (yes the games on the 3,5mb floppy discs lol) to play it with this new engine...(all doom games zipped have a size of like...30mb *cough)

Definately worth it tho...the engine features pretty new technology like T&L, Lens Flare effects and even bump mapping...(and yes everything there IS in 3d...even the character models...really awesome job ID)
Ive played Doom1 and 2 thro with this engine already =)
