Okay, but think about the motel owner. Ever been screwed by someone who owed you money? If it really was going to cost $10,000 to repair (and as a veteran of some home improvement projects, I can easily believe it), should he have just let the guy drive off and hope to hear from him again some day? Somewhere in the world one of my former tenants, who still owes me about three thousand, is running loose. The day he was evicted he stole a car, and the cops still haven't found him.
