i currently have a geforce3 ti200 128megs. i have been playing doom 3 alot and i am considering getting a new card. i have been short for money, and am only looking for spending less than $200. should i get this card? CLICK HERE |

Well...im a nvidia fan so im goin to recommend the Nvidia GeForceFx 6800Ultra. Its definately better then the 800XT when you wanna play Doom3 (because OpenGL is Nvidia playground =P). Although...the 800XT is a better card in general...and its gonna be much better when it comes to hl2...so i dont know. I can sadly vouch for the poor performance of the ATI Open GL support, probably will be helped up by further drivers etc but it's not that great. I have a ATI 9600 pro, 256MB. It's not bad, the game flows at 800x600 but at higher resulotions it can chug down at times, critical ones. D3 wasn't really coded for your average puter though. It's coded for the latest hardware, as almost every pure graphical game is, so unless you have that, admit defeat and play it at what you got. ATI ain't bad, NVIdia ain't bad either, your choice... just don't get the cheap versions, they are a waste of time, effort and money... This comment was edited by TuX on Sep 14 2004 07:01pm. |

get a 6800! or 6600! the FX series of cards really suck, its the worse card series nvidia put out. dont get ATI if u want good performance in D3, ATI's OpenGL Support is horrible. _______________ When a Man lies he murder's some part of the world.
