Unfortunately, they forgot to add the option to change the anisotropic setting. Anisotropic will kick the arse of most video cards so its best turned off. For nvidia cards, the setting is in the advanced display properties on the Windows control panel. You have to use the driver setting to override the game's setting. If you have a tweak for SW:BF, add it here. _______________ Gone but hopefully not forgotten... This post was edited by n00b on Sep 27 2004 09:55pm. |

Masta, that was nice information! Anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing to me is something that when I'm doing more than just standing around and looking at the pretty scenery is worthless. I don't know why game companies think it is "needed" in any way. Just makes people think they need new hardware. Its a giant conspiracy to make you spend money. If these companies would focus on game play and gaming innovations, we could all keep our hardware the same for a while. I mean jeepers, Direct X is on version 9.0c (shoulda called it version 12 if you ask me.) Is a new DX necessary every year? The consoles have a real advantage there. You buy the hardware and your done. No upgrades, no bad FPS, just go and buy the game and it works... every time. Would be nice if the PC had that sort of guarantee. Every year I have to go out and buy the latest and greatest video card to keep up. Its just silliness, but I've been playing along. My motto is gameplay, not graphics. _______________ Gone but hopefully not forgotten... |

Well...FSAF (Full Screen Anisotropic Filtering) doesnt kick the ***t our of your card that badly...im using 8x on most games (Doom3 4x) Imma explain the effect of it on the game counter-strike... When playing CS without any FSAF enabled...you will notice that there is a radius in which every texture around you is displayed clearly... Beyond this radius...the displayed textures seem blury and unclear... FSAF increases this radius which makes you see all textures in a specific range more clearly... 4x FSAF 2x FSAF Notice the difference between 2x and 4x...now think about the difference between none and 8x =) What actually really KILLS you gfx-card is FSAA (Full Screen Anti-Aliasing) ...my jk3 wont get beyond 30FPS on 8xFSAA x_x FSAA rounds the edges of all textures to make them look more "realistic" or at least...not so edgy =) Thats what FSAA does <- Give the circle in both pictures special attention =P Another example <- 1st and 3rd circle are not anti-aliased Not anti-aliased Anti-Aliased Be sure that FSAA takes far more power to render then FSAF...both filtering methods can be forced in the settings-menu which youll find when following the description made by n00b =) _______________ Find out more about the Jedi Academy Aurochs here and more about Masta here!
