So I have been discussing this alot lately I have always been a big console gamer, JO/JK are probably the only games I have really played alot on the PC. Now with the PS2 and Xbox multiplayer online games, plus the Xbox has imho proved its gonna be around for at least one more generation, probably more. I think both the PS3 and Xbox2 are going to emulate the Xbox more than the PS2, so people are not just buying a console they are buying: 1.) A video game console 2.) A DVD player 3.) Well actually Monty, I was wasn't disagring with anything "you" said. Also, I have never played a mmorgp, and I have played these rpgs: Most of the final fantasy games. Skies of Arcadia Legends Kotor thats it. Of all time, my favorite RPG is FF 2 (2 in the US I wanna say it was 4 in Japan) and that was for the SNES. A console two generations old. Then the next best was 7 which was for the PS1. So again worse graphics, better games. Obviously no one wants to play a game like Doom3 on the lowest graphics settings, with a shitty video card. Im still not sure how you pulled that from my post, but, I think if you did play Doom3 in this manner the graphics wouldn't be the part that really bothered you, it would be the constant video lag, dying all that all the time. Doom 3 was a great example for you to bring up, highl anticipated and made a mini-boom on the PC graphics card market single handed. So lets pull in some info from an unbiased source, (well I consider them unbiased you might not, www.ign.com) Thier review of Doom 3, yielded an over all score of 8.9, pretty darn good. Now there is a game out for the PS2 and GC called "Viewtiful Joe" its a 2D side-scrolling fighter/adventure game (think Double Dragon, Golden Axe, etc) it scored a 9.1. This game is one of the best games I have played in a really long time. It looks as if you might be able to run it on a SNES, although im sure you couldn't. The main difference here Viewiful Joe relies on gameplay to be fun, which when done right, yeilds the best game. Obi, I totally disagree. How can you say that NO one plays a game for the graphics? I guarantee alot of people in here play games with graphics being one of the main reasons they are playing it. I'm not going to go on about why I think this, because alot of what I would have said, has already been said. _______________ You are not your f***ing system specs. So whats with all the saracism? that was totally uncalled for, you missed my point completely and was extremly sarcastic to say the least! My point being on PC if u want to play NEXT GEN games u need a Top GFX card so dont try and bullcrap me and say that people would rather play DOOM 3 on the lowest setting or that a 32mb gfx card will run it smoothly, cos to be quite honest it wont!! so u need a £250 + GFX card to get the best out of the next gen games, Now Doom 3 is comin out for Xbox very soon, and guess wot i dont need to buy anything to play it. they are tweaking it and still to improve the FPS and all reviews so far say its actually gone run better than the PC version, feh so for the price of your GFX card i could have a Xbox and about 10 games, As for the fact people dont play games for GFX, dont talk out your arse, So your telling me you would still prfer the GFX of say the old Spectrum, could u imagine playing online or a Epic RPG with them GFX, errrrrrr No ( Sarcasim intended there ) so why dont u stop preaching about how people dont like gfx and actually step back and think where we would be without the GFX advancments. Now dont get me wrong some Game companies tend to rely on GFX to sell the game which obviously dont work, but their are still game companies out there thaat can balance it all out, like Burnout 3, Superb crisp GFX and excellent Gameplay. Yeah argue about graphics that shows you really like games........................ If you want good graphics go turn off the computer/console and look around the graphics are excellent. If you wanna challenge yourself in things would almost never be able to do in real life, leave them on. Graphics arguments are weak, at best. NO one plays a video game for the graphics. Seriously are you gonna spend $50 to play a stupid game, just cause it has great graphics, of course not. So why argue for it then? Face it electronics that are made to do one, task and do them very well are better. consoles play games, and they do it hassle free. Granted once every six monthes, your console might spasm, but ever heard anyone having to call sony tech support, cause they couldn't install GTA3 on thier PS2? lol C1 if your GFX pwns PS3 and Xbox 2 then u have alien technology, the processor's etc.. for Xbox 2 are not even finalised yet they are still tweaking and looking to improve still, And if yours does pwn them it also means u could probably buy both consoles for the price of your GFX card which u then have a decent PC to use it with. Consoles are so much easier and FPS games are getin better on consoles with keyboards and mouses available on either console, i knwo i prefer to put a game in and it loads instantly, rather than installing it. People say but u can update games with PC and patch them....... Well Xbox live does the very same thing, Take Ninja Gaiden for instance, they realised people wanted more so u can download new modes and enter online battles etc.... So in the end Consoles are not as bad as people think. And believe me the GFX on PS3 and Xbox 2 will supprise people. that i am quite sure of. _______________ If you add me to MSN, tell me who you are

I agree with most of the comments here. PC: I use for fps, rpg, and other things/not game related. My graphics card pwns that of the ps3 or xbox2 that I can almost assure of. Console: I love to use for driving games, fighting, sports, or my favorite, wrestling. There are just some things that arent meant to be played on PC and vise versa. My choice will have to go with BOTH. You always need to alter between the two mediums to live a happy life c1...OUT!! _______________ Get busy living, or get busy dying. |

Because I do agree that for the FPS and Strategy games (at least), a keyboard and mouse are much more useful than a controller. I prefer PC 90% of the time. After playing on the PC for so long...going back to the analog sticks is quite akward. I need the mouse and keyboard. Like SILK MONKEEH AKA "ER IST DER GOTT??!!" AKA "THE TANK" AKA "THE MIGHTY"(sry btw) already said...there aint no absolute winner.. Consoles are really good when you just get some friends together and play some old-school MP games...anything goes there...from Beat´Em-Up to Sport games...its just great fun =) But there are also some unique games that only come out for consoles (IE resident evil 4 or MGS3 -.- omg i wish i could play those) which are just very great...and ppl without those consoles wont ever be able to play them =/ (well maybe in 10 years when all older consoles get their freakin emulators on pc and we only need to download the rom *cough like snes) On the other hand, the PC gives u alot more possibilitys...and (at least i think so) has more unique and very good games then any console could have... Although i think that keeping a PC for long terms is a bit more expensive then buying new consoles every 3 years...i mean...just check the prices on the GFX cards etc... But well, lets not forget that FPS are mostly not very good on consoles which is a big pro for pc =) All in all...i prefer a PC but...omg i want a gamecube -.- ...no wait...i want a ps2...bah and a xbox! Well the Xbox media center as you call it is terrible on its own, but mod your Xbox and u have a very good media center, Just as good as Windows Media Player or anything like that on PC. My xbox will play anysort of video file or sound file. My Xbox runs emulators and i can store quite a few films on its Hard Drive. In short i love my Xbox more than my PS2 but then again i only brought a PS2 for MGS2/3 and Final Fantasy's oh and GTA : SA Here is hoping they make the Xbox 2 as easy to mod as the Xbox _______________ If you add me to MSN, tell me who you are

Depends on the game and your preferred style. There is no definite and absolute winner...except that: ALL OTHER SYSTEMS > Mac I, for example like playing Madden 2005 on PS2 against my brother on our TV...that way all the WTFs and the OMFGs can be heard instantly. On the other hand, I can't stand playing Halo on XBox...its like wheres the control and fun? Sure theres people playing with you in the room...but it doesnt make it suck any less.
