Bug Me!

Uttering the words "Blue is the colour of the Jedi Guardian" as I pick up KotOR to play it again. Yes it's that time again(although I though I'd give the consular a go *Gasp*).

This thread isn't actually about KotOR, its about why you should submit a bug report.

So I'm playing though KotOR and *bang*, it dies on a loading screen. Anyway I repeat this bug several times, so decide to follow my normal routine of checking the net and support sites to see what’s up.

The last time I played I switched back to Cat 4.2, so I figure, worse case I'll go back to them instead of the cat 4.9 I was running.

And then I stumbled across this page. For those that don't want to read it, its a 3 page thread on a unofficial ati community support site, during it what appears to be a Ati representative explains that no action was taken because there weren't many bug reports and so it didn't get priority.

Yes, there are a ton of boards all over the place detailing this problem but did any of them submit a official bug report to Ati, probably not many by the sound of it. I don't think I had this problem last time but if I did would I have submitted a bug report? No, I'd have just installed Cat 4.2.

So Ati have made a fix for this crash bug that will appear in 4.11, they also released a hotfix for Cat 4.9.

So a bug has been fixed that has been around about 5 months and according to Ati wasn't given a quicker fix time because not enough people reported it. Believe Ati's statement or not, you should submit bugs and then you have every right to cast stones and ask why it isn't fixed yet and complain on forums.

If I play KotOR today I should get off taris and to Dantooine where last time I played it ran slow and I switched to cat 4.2. I'm not sure if this has been fixed yet but if it hasn't then I will be submitting a bug.

I've learned that you can't hope someone will submit a bug that you have, you have to do it for yourself. So let this be a call to arms and we all submit bugs be it a game or driver(of course you might want to skip those that have stopped patching)

And if I haven't convinced you yet. Just ask yourself how many in the JKJA community would submit a bug if Ati or Nvidia made drivers that broke the game completely and left you unable to play it.

And with the end of the first thread started by me I ask that you visit the second thread by me that I'll start in a year’s time. :D:P

I submitted a lot for Pandora Tomorrow and I think something else too. I think it might have been the original Splinter Cell too. No, wait, that was way back. It was Athena Sword. Ubisoft has all the issues for me. Yeah.

Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Jedi fight for civilization, because only civilization creates peace.
