So I just watched this on video a couple days ago. I was somewhat impressed, I thought this would have been better. I thought maybe it would make in interesting discussion though.

1.) How much fast food do you eat?

I used to eat it McDonalds everyday for an entire summer, I worked at a greenhouse, and that is where they went "everyday"

2.) Thinking of it in terms of "really bad food" what else do we consider "fast-food" or equally as bad?
Denny's
IHOP
Bennigans
AppleBee's

(for the above I tried to just pick popular chains, since no is gonna know about your local resturants we will probably have to leave them out, even though there is a burger-joint close to my parents house named "Culvers" where they have something called the: "DOUBLE BACON BUTTER BURGER"

3.) Do you know of any decent healthy/organic resturants?

So, do we really believe some other guy could have done the same thing as Morgan Spurlock, and actually lost weight?

Assuming he did this I guess I wouldn't doubt the weight loss, but I would really like to see/read about this other guy.

I guesse this would go out to Buzz more than others, Where can I find info on the guy you are talking about?

You are correct. Soda dehydrates you. When I was in the Peace Corps, the medical officer sort of gave me hell when he came to visit my post and found me drinking a soda when it was over 100 degrees.

True I was making the unfair assumption that ther person wasn't looing a signifiant amount of weight, based on the amount of muscle they gain.

But still how can a person workout on a diet like this? Spurlock(sp) the writer (i guess), director, and star, drank upwards of 3 soda's a day. That is an absurd amount of sugar, can a person really exercise when they are bbascially dehydrating themselves?

NOTE: I beleive soda (carbonated sugar-water) does nothing to help re-hydrate you, but I could be wrong.

Uh uh. Building muscle can make you gain or lose weight, depending on what you look like before you start.

In my younger years I was frighteningly thin. I started a three-mornings-a-week weightlifting program, and a few months later I was 20 pounds heavier and looked a lot better.

Years later I found myself a good 20 pounds too heavy. I resumed weightlifting--I added muscle but lost weight.

What most people don't understand about muscle-building is that muscle burns a lot more calories than fat as you simply go about your daily business. A 180-pound man with 8% body fat will burn significantly more calories just getting dressed in the morning than another man of the exact same weight but 20% body fat.

Cardiovascular exercises are for strengthening the cardiovascular system. Yes, they burn calories, but if you do them for that specific purpose you're fighting a losing battle because it takes an astonishing amount of hard work to burn off the calories of just one sandwich. Mmmmmm...sandwich. Build muscle, and you're burning extra calories almost 24 hours a day (we move in our sleep, but not much).

The "other" guy.

1.) He either exercised before this, and kept up his routine

2.) or he started exercising when he started eating nothing but McDonalds.

Either way that isn't good. Something people don't really pay attention to is that, unless your workout is mostly cariovascular, you won't lose much weight if any.

Assumming you are lifting weights you are either toning or bulking. Either way muscle weights more than fat, and you should gain some weight.

Assuming your workout is cardiovascular. Running 3 miles a day burns UNDER 400 calories, that is less than MOST McDonald's sandwichs?

McDonalds Nutrtion Facts:

Also exercise can be stressful on your body, although I don't have facts on this, I am willing bet you couldn't eat just McDonalds for that long and keep up a good workout routine, calories are one thing, vitamins and minerals are almost a completely seperate issue..

Being a person who has been very off and on with my workouts (pretty much every summer when I dont have the school rec I dont workout) I can say that a person who exercises craves healthy foods that will provide you with the nutrients needs to heal your strained body.

So, I would be interested in seeing how this other guy LOST weight.

"Grease and fat" do not stick to the insides of your blood vessels. Cholesterol does. And contrary to popular myth, only a tiny percentage of the cholesterol in your body comes from food--your body actually manufactures most of its cholesterol. Diet is one factor that can affect it. Exercise is another. I betcha the McDonald's guy, if he really did exercise and was losing weight, did not experience a rise in blood pressure.

Mmmmmmm...Grease and fat.

The problem with this movie is that another guy went and did almost the exact same thing: eating at McDonalds. I'm not sure if he always got the super sized meal, but he ate there. The difference is he actually kept up the rest of his routine. He still did the same exercising as before. He actually lost weight doing this.
