ET is one of my favorite online games, it's really really good. Class-based objective gameplay rocks immensely. JA Siege blows compared to ET, imo... And it's free! There's simply no excuse not to play it! |

Try changing your name. For the past couple of weeks I've had an issue where I log into a server and play a map, but it takes a loooooong time to log in, i.e. the match is almost over when I finally get in. Then the next map takes upwards of five minutes to load and disconnects me when it's done loading. Has anybody else seen this? Is it because of something funky I've downloaded from one of the servers, or something else? I haven't changed my name or configuration or installed anything weird that I know of, and it used to work fine. Any ideas? _______________ My signature is only one line. You're welcome. |

I love ET! There have been nights my wife has come downstairs at three in the morning to tell me to quit playing and get the hell to bed because I work in the morning. As for realistic damage scale, though, I have yet to see a first person shooter that has one. Here's what's realistic: When you get shot once, you're almost always down for the count. That's how it works in the real world. Call of Duty is kind of neat in that way--there are servers with like 25-30 people in each team, and you don't respawn when you die. Matches tend to last just a few minutes. It totally changes the game dynamic, makes player behavior a lot more "realistic"--in ET everybody heroically charges machinegun fire because you respawn in 30 seconds or less if no medic gets to you. In CoD people do sacrifice themselves for the good of the team, but because there's no respawn they do it only when they think it will really help, much like soldiers in the real world. But even in CoD, getting shot nonfatally doesn't affect your ability to move or fight. In a realistic shooter, a hit to the leg would leave you unable to move other than by crawling slowly, a hit to the torso would take you out of the action completely, a hit to the arm would slow you considerably and leave you unable to use most weapons (plus it would take forever to reload). _______________ My signature is only one line. Yup figured...the funny thing about ET is that its free... I guess its even a stand-alone?
