Jarhok Belouve

so i have a intel celeron 2.4 gig processor and a radeon 9200se (and other stuff of course)
none of the above is exactly top of the range stuff and im looking into replacing the 9200 with a 9600 chip maybe the XT version. Would that be best or should i upgrade the celeron? fairly low budget as it would be a christmas present.
Well any ideas?

That said, a ram boost can help for little money.
i use an athlon 2600+ and an olf Geforce FX5200 and with my config can get over 130 fps in the matrixes

I've got myself a 9600XT, and I must say, it's pretty sweet. If you are on a low budget, I'd say go for that one.

um..gaming rigs are more demending than office apps and most other uses. but with his current spec a gfx upgrade is the best option. also consider a Geforce FX 5600 or similar and remember that speed depends on the manufacturee with Gainward and Sapphire giving up to 15% more performance.

Celeron is pretty lame, but it'll do in a pinch if it's for a gaming rig. At least the clock speed on yours seems decent enough. If you're planning on upgrading the processor, you might as well replace the whole motherboard with it. I'd go with AMD if you're ever going to take that step (cheaper and more reliable in my opinion).

You're definitely going to want to upgrade that graphics card. 9600 XT is pretty solid, and that's probably what I would get if I couldn't afford a 9800 Pro. You might even want to try kicking it up to a 9700 if you can spare the cash.

If you need to make a choice between upgrading the processor or the graphics card, I'd go with the graphics card. That processor is decent enough, and higher-end games will have your current graphics card at it's knees. I think the 9200 doesn't even have DX9 support.

What motherboard do you have? and what is the pc mainly used for? however, i would personally go for the graphics card upgrade. If however your motherboard can support an old p4 chip that may also be worth looking into.
