As the title of this thread states....I thought I would give Windows XP SP2 a chance to redeem itself and after installing it there was barely an hour before it ravaged my system  as soon as I would move my mouse at the JA game title screen it would just freeze and a few other applications did the same thing...Had to remove SP2 from my system and I will not give it another chance untill Microsoft gets it right. So best advice I could give to anyone would be to just say NO to SP2 untill the bugs n kinks get worked out. Maybe a few people have had luck with it but I sure havent. _______________ 4/20/2005----Left the academy because I did'nt feel welcomed. |

Im having a problem with my server lists now for some reason. I came into a random server game someone made up...it was made by a newbie clan I've never really heard of....well I made one of them a little mad because I sliced them from groin to sternum with a blue saber so then my screen kinda freaked out and I got back on this morning and clicked to refresh my server lists and now nothing shows up this kinda happened before....and frankly I dont feel like reformatting my computer yet again *ugh*. Has anyone ever had this problem with their server list? *I dont have a firewall up except for SP1 windows firewall* _______________ 4/20/2005----Left the academy because I did'nt feel welcomed. hey Ulic sure it works like that, but its not really an elegant solution. I have ALWAYS needed to turn off my firewalls to play JK2 and JK3. It's simply that there must be some process that the firewalls needs to allow, that I end up not seeing. I have used 3 firewalls and it has given me junk for each one, freezing the same for each. So I can understand how it freezes up. Mine did too. Frankly, use a router or something as a firewall, which is what I have, and turn off the SP2 or other firewall for JK2/JK3. I do that, works like a champ. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. Well...FYI I know how to use a computer and theres no problems with me and the keyboard. And the last time I checked JA starts up rather fast (atleast on my system) and no firewall warnings or whatever your saying pops up before the game is started and well you cant minimize the game itself without a minimizing program or a killtracker with the hide feature. Im not really bashing microsoft at all so I dont really see why you hardcore bill gates fans are getting so testy just because I had a prob with sp2.....I'm not the only one ya know. But none the less I MIGHT try SP2 one last time and run JA in windowed mode and maybe THEN that freakin firewall warning thing will pop up. _______________ 4/20/2005----Left the academy because I did'nt feel welcomed. |

Well, I dont know if people really even bash microsoft for the right reasons, though. Yes it crashes more, alot more, but that is because the easist way to run a lot games, is to let the game sort-of take over the computer, and not let the operating system, be a safety buffer. Or because they realized (before we were getting 150 popups a day) that if they coded part of IE into the OS it could load faster than netscape, and that is one of the main reasons they won the "browser" wars long ago. Now some of those decisions are starting to catch up to them. They need to fix it, so I question thier new solution? Windows Longhorn, which they claim they are writting from scratch!!!!! That seems like a terrible idea. Sure they might fix some things, or do a few things better but come on, they are just starting to get some thing right. XP has a much better boot time than 2000. When I installed SP2, I noticed all the cool new networking ideas. Alternative configurations for one network connect! So I can DHCP at school, and using a static IP at home! Wonderful. These are some small improvements that I have yet to find a drawback for, and they wanna start them from scratch!
