Dont you just hate the ones that semi get your attention. I just got out of a meeting that i had in a car with a guy that told me about multi-level marketing. wow seems so simple. You buy things from there web site, it gets you points. you get other people to join the group under you invatations and the points they earn add to yours. depending on how many points you have, you get money every month.

With this system this guy showed me how i could be makeing $500,000 a year by the time im 20.

ok now re-read that last line. this is one of those times i hate that i have a good sence of reality and i know when i see somthing to good to be true.

I just saw for my own eyes how it works, (tho they did make it sound easy cuz they left out how hard it is to get people to buy under you, this i just know from experiance with life) yet I know that it wolnt work.

Now if your wondering why i posted this, dont feel alone cuz im not quite shure why I did eather but I just wanna hear some feed back.

:alliance:Is there such a thing as honest hard work anymore? So many people seem to be hopping on to the get rich quick bandwagon. Remember laziness leads to pot, pot leads to twinkies, twinkies leads to obesity, obesity leads to thereapy, thereapy leads to medical bills, medical bills lead to no money. See laziness just keeps ya broke. Did I just make sense? Im not sure:P:alliance:

I have sat through the Quixtar(sp) speech twice, the 1st time, I knew I wasnt interested, but still we are all enticed my large amounts of money.

I think the best part is some of the things they tell you.

This guy sat thier and tried to tell me, my uncle who owns a resturant, 3 houses, 6 cars, yadda yadda, is gonna be poor when he retires, because he doesnt have the "consisent repear income" that they can provide. RIGHT

Or they try to spin it, like recruiting for them isn't work. The 2nd guy was a machanic by day, and all he talked about was how he hated his job. He said as soon as he got off work he showered and start doing "this" (recuirting poor saps to join him)

This is my all time favorite line though.

"Most people don't realize what an oppertunity this is. We estimate only 15% percent of the people we talk to will be smart enough, to figure out how this system works, and how they can benefit from it"

Or, if you really think about it, what they are saying is pretty smooth.

what you dont wanna do this, you just an average dummy, who is confused.

But if you agree, your in the top 15% of the smartest people out there.

Ok, I am NOT a violent person, Im actually a borderline pacafict, but next person to try and sell me something like this, is getting my boot square in thier mouth.

I read about a guy who put an add in the paper saying something like this. "Earn money fast send $5 to [address] to find out how." Then he would send them a note saying "put an add in the paper saying, Earn money fast send $5 to [address] to find out how."I think he ended up in jail. :D

I read a story about some guy who got back at the guys. He recieved junk mail saying how he could make $100,000 in 3 months or so. Along with it was a fake cheque to try and lure people. He cashed the cheque and got away with the money.
I'll see if I can find the story.

Oh and theres the guy who put an ad in the newspaper saying
"Don't forget to send you $10 to [ADDRESS]." He recived $50,000 or something :P.

Edit: Here: http://www.man1bank0.com/, it was about $95,000.

How much do you spend on soda/chips/beer/stuff like that on a typical day?

Now how much does that add up to over a month?

How much you spend on video rentals, going out, cable/satellite and (ulp!) computer games?

Does it add up to $200 a month?

If you put $200 a month aside and invest it in stock mutual funds, after taxes and given the historical performance of the market, you'll have over a quarter million dollars in 25 years.

I never leap without looking, so when I got home, I did some research on Quixtar and all of em and found out the truth. I called him back, explained to him what I found out, and told him I wasn't interested. I was polite about it though. There are some great ways to get wealthy (not rich, wealthy) that work very well - and all of them take hard work. Nah man, don't feel bad about it. I've had my best friend try and set me up with a small phone company that was doing the same thing. But I told him that it wasn't for me, and that I'd rather have a normal job. Trust me dude,he'll understand. If he doesn't then he isn't your friend and he was just using you for his own profit. :)

lol

ne way, by the time I had gotten out the car i had already decided that it was a waste of time, right when I heard that 500,000 a year at 20 doing jack squat.

I was just really fustrated that it was right there, i didnt see anything wrong with it, and it was a lot of money. But im not the idiot that i would have people beleive. thanx for the advice tho guys. and Tido, the fact that you basicly just rewrote everything he said, yet you made it truthful tells me you've had and incounter or two with Quixar yourself.

What kinda makes me feel bad tho is its a really good friend from school that set this meeting up and he is deep into it. (acually hes one of the people that might get off on this thing, he already gets like 1700 dollers a month) I gotta look him in the face and tell him that i dont wanna do what hes doing. I dunno makes me feel bad

I got suckered into one of these things too when I was younger. I imagine that someone with sales knowledge and a good supply of friends who know friends might be able to do well in these types of programs. I didn't have the sales knowledge and practice that I do now, nor did I have transpertation, nor did I have alot of friends but I joined to help my close friend out and lost alot of "buy in" money doing so. I never saw a penny back for my efforts and the whole experience was horrible. Trust me, nothing says making money like going to school and landing a good job. As long as you land a career path that you will enjoy and will always be needed, your golded. Now I know we would all like to be filthy rich, well, not me really, but well to do. Most likely doing one of these piramid schemes will burn you and make you worse off then when you started. I'm not saying it will never work, but I think there are much better avenues to travel in the ways of making money. :)

The odds are worse than that Gradius. Actually if you were to make any money at all doing this stuff it would be by recruiting people just like he's doing to you.

I'm willing to guess that all of this stuff involves a company called Quixtar. For most of us, Quixtar doesn't ring any bells - but the company who owns it might: Amway. It takes some persistance getting the Quixtar folks to admit they are Amway though, and I'm sure your dashboard sales buddy would make quite a face if you mentioned it.

Welcome to the dog-eat-dog world of MLM (Multi-Level Marketing): the only legal pyramid scheme. Here people above you will tell you sweet lies until you sell yourself into it, and the only way you can come even is to turn around and lure in other folks just as you were. As far as the wonderful 'products' that your 'business' will sell, the #1 buyer of them will be yourself, not your customers. Quixtar/Amway will enjoy making you a consuming slave of theirs, just to hang on to some 'points'. Eventually somewhere buried under piles of motivational and strategy tapes, feel-good-finacial books, and tickets to seminars where 'Diamonds' have shared with you the 'secrets' of their wonderful business you will realize that something that sounds to good to be true.....is.

Don't trust those "get rich quick schemes" man. That guys is a salesman, and a damn good one too. He takes kids around our age and tells us about how mauch money we COULD make, but you'll never make anywhere near as much. 1 out of every 20 people they recruit for that stuff actually does good, the others just quit. I mean, if you want to try it, go for it. But chances are you won't get anywhere. I've fallen victim to these things plenty of times because of good salesmen. It's not worth it in the longrun.
