The only trouble is getting Gary Bettman, all the GMs, etc. to get this stuff done.
Canada's teams (and some US teams) are losing $$$ every season. I think its mostly bcuz of teams like the Rags(Rangers)overpay players like mad, with no results I might add. The smaller market teams can't compete. It's all a big mess! They need to put some kind of salary cap in place otherwise we'll be back to the Original 6 teams again because teams can't play their players. btw Kal, I noticed they put your map on one of the new servers! They don't understand that fighting is part of hockey. Just like a big crunching hit, a fight can change a game.
Not sure if you read this, but the ever-outspoken Brett Hull has 10 ways he thinks the NHL could improve. Yeah the game has degenerated a little bit since the instigator rule.
I know they wanted to bring down the amount of fist fighting in the game with that rule. I guess they didn't consider the frustration that fuels those fights. I think if they were that worried about it they could have come up with some better ideas than that. _______________ Death is only the beginning. |

I don't know how you feel about it, but they should get rid of the instigator rule. B4 the NHL did that, you didn't see any of that bullcrap. If you took a run at a guy like that, the other teams' enforcer would have something to say about it. The game was much more honest back then.

Cripes I didn't realize it's been 10 years
Yeah it really cheapens hockey as a sport to have guys play that way. I love the big checks and all, but when you got guys that are pulling stunts just to get away with brutalizing other players you lose something. To me it's a clear indicator of a player that either isn't up to par and can't handle the level of gameplay, or a psycho that's using hockey as a means for an outlet of violence. Either way, it's bad for hockey to have guys doing that stuff. _______________ Death is only the beginning. |

Yup, it was Turgeon, but that was in '93. The guy was Dale Hunter on Washington. He's definitely a cheap shot artist! Luckily for the league, he retired a few years ago. I hate players like that! Claude Lemieux is another one of those players.

Wasn't Pierre Turgeon part of the Isles when he got cheap shotted from behind after a game winning goal in the playoffs about 4 years ago?

I hear ya! The 2 teams I absolutely hate most are of course the Ranjerks, and from last yrs playoffs, the Leafs! (Darcy Tucker is a cheap shot artist!)
I'm just glad that my Isles are back in playoff contention after years and years of being in the basement. No not really a Ranjerks fan lol. The only two teams I have a problem with are the Blackhawks and the Avalanche, which simply are Red Wings rivalries from the last few years. _______________ Death is only the beginning. |

Actually, I became a 'Hawks fan when I played in a Sega Hockey League up in college. Turns out the guy who used the Wings was a D*CK!!! So for that reason I don't like the Wings.
I have to say, Detroit is a very class organization. 1st for when they won the cup the year after Konstantinov was in the accident and they basically won it for him. Stevie Y is a class act as well. Last year, b4 taking his skate around the rink, he gave the cup to all the guys who've been playing for a long time and never won it. That was a real classy thing of him to do. We have no arguments as long as you don't like the Ranjerks!
