If your thinking about getting Star Wars Galaxies you might want to REALLY look at other options before settling down with it. I bought a copy for myself with christmas money I got for um well christmas (duh) and it took a few days to get in and I was excited to get it in finally. Well popped in the cd, installed it, created an account and was ready to begin my 30 day free subscription that was included. Didnt happen! What those guys neglect to FULLY explain on the box is that yes you do get 30 days free subscription INCLUDED with the game but what they dont tell you is that you have to subscribe FIRST with either A.) your credit card or B.) a game card *2 months paid*. So being as it is I didnt really want to spend yet another $29.95 to get a game card to get that free 30 days because I wasnt 100% sure if it was going to be the game for me so I contacted both SOE and Lucasarts and they confirmed that you do have to do one of those options to get the promised 30 days. So it wasnt entirely my fault that I didnt completely understand the "terms" of getting that so-called 30 day free subscription but atleast now some of you can learn from my mistake. Just wish the company would explain the details on all of that but hey thats why you keep receipts for stuff you buy. Hope that my unfortunate experience can help others avoid getting lead around by the catch to the free subscription thing. I think that even a bit more than 3 months...mine was idle from july 31st to december 6th, yet no one deleted it u don't have to worry about it being deleted if u stop playing for a while. ohhh, lol, and my own cd-key was already in use too when i tried to register it It had to do with a cd-key batch which was doubled. Characters last atleast 3 months after going idle (ie unpaid) generally speaking. They detail flagged characters who have been unactive for.. well you'd better check that out somewhere. I feel like I need to say something here. I bought SWG and JTL recently and found out my account key was already in use! As frustrated as I was, I have to admit SOE were cool about it and replaced my key for me after I sent them a receipt and a couple pictures of the case with the account key on it. No broken english and no excuses. They're alright And my actual game experience was and still is awesome. I love this game _______________ make install -not war |

i had my 30-day free trial WITHOUT any subscription wierd eh ? naw...i just waited several hours before they made my account active. This is the reason you should do research on a game before you buy it. Being a good consumer helps even when buying video games. |

You do, in fact, get 30 days free when you buy the game. You don't have to pay a thin dime beyond the first 30 days unless you actually keep playing beyond the first 30 days. You do have to provide a credit card number, but you can cancel your subscription on day 30, and your card will never be charged. _______________ My signature is only one line. You're welcome. |

I've played this game since 11 august 2003. And you can have fun with it. I'm in an rp community called Tirius. We have our own plot lines and its really fun. I play in Eclipse btw. |

I've been saying it since before the game came out. SWG is a rip off and a waste of money. I don't understand why anyone bought it. I hope if Lucasarts makes another MMORPG, they will spend allot more time on it. I can't remember if you need to have bought the game to read the forums, if you can read them without buying the game read them first. u get free 30 days but u have to supply a CC or a GC in any mmo. i played swg for over a year i think. its fun at first but i got tired from it cause there was literaly nothing to do. They are implementing the combat balance now which will add some weapons and stuff, but i still think it will get boring, but i dont know didnt play it for a few months. Anyways if i were u i'd get WoW its an awsome game and actually u got something to do. First it will take you a month, maybe more to get ot the higest lvl all depends on how much u play per day. Second not like in SWG u dont have to grind u can do quests which are fun and there are instances and bosses and it is really fun to play. At lvl 60 theres end game content and ofcourse theres PVP. Horde Vs Alliance. U can raid cities and kill npcs inside the city Also now they are working of battlegrounds and they said theres gonna be something like siege where u can take over a camp or something a tower ect, i think it will be similar to WC3 like u build a camp, actually not build concure ect. So u can check it out if u got a CC. just my opinion. _______________ ...... |

I believe most pay 2 play subscription services have this little bit in place. You get a 30 day free subscription but you have to at least promise to pay after its over. You can cancel your subscription before you actually start having to pay, and you aren't billed until your free time is up. Something I forgot to mention as well. The customer service with Sony Online Entertainment ( the peeps that run the galaxies accounts) are mainly based in India and other middle eastern locales, so if you have problems with this game or your account dont expect results because I emailed them litterally 5 times and all I get is broken english and poor excuses that dont make sense. _______________ 4/20/2005----Left the academy because I did'nt feel welcomed. |

Trust me. After all the headaches I've had the past week tryin to for one get the game in and the other half of the week setting the account up isnt worth it. In other words if you dont have a credit card then your going to have to buy yet another game card (2 months prepaid) just to get the so-called free month. Believe me you dont want it. If you want to get a feel for what galaxies is like then check out http://www.anarchy-online.com..........ive noticed that it looks and plays similar to galaxies and it really isnt that great either. Due to all the negative reactions aimed towards SWG, I don't see why anyone would buy it in the first place. I was all hopped up on SWG waiting (I wanted to play bad.) and then I heard so many comments saying "this sux sux sux a dux" that I wouldn't bother going out to buy it.
