Hey guys, I'll keep it short....i think.

New year is here and it always stirs up a wild host of new thoughts, resolutions and things like this. I am the same way, it is like starting new in some regards.

But this year was different for some reason. As I thought back on the year and forward to the year ahead, I could not help just to be thankful for so many things. Sometimes we think we have been dealt bad cards, but then things like the tsunami happens and we see the rise of diseases like Aids in Africa and poverty in other areas and it just goes to show us how much we have to be thankful for.

I just wanted everyone to stop for 5 min, and think about that. Makes you glad to be alive. Anyways, I sure do look forward to another great year here at the JA and I hope to make some new friends and have some more great times.

it's not a matter of being reminded of worse senarios to make us feel better, it's a matter of perspective. of being thankful for what we do have, a reminder that what is right around us is precious. that's just my opinion though :)

I appreciate the optimism and I support the attitude. However, It saddens me that we often need to be reminded of worse scenarios in order to feel better. Why can we not feel better through experiencing better things instead? Natural disasters and human diseases only remind me of how insignificant and weak humanity really is. As if humans didn't have enough challenges to overcome in this infinitely large, and dangerous universe, we make it so much more difficult on ourselvse through racism, terrorism, divide across nations, corruption, greed...Sorry for being so depressing...:(

edit: Happy New to everyone though
