If the films are set, a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away. then how can you explain that they are humans......

Well face it, watching single cell organizms wouldn't make for nearly as good of a movie.

We gotta speed up the evolutionary process cause this isnt as cool:

Darth Amoeba: "Luke, I am the single celled organzim you spawned from, search your gelatinous insides, you it to be true!"

Somehow I disagree with that theory (my own objections to the Greys is how would such creatures compete? I as a scrawny individual I could not compete in the wild without my combat training) I would imagine intelligent life could evolve in multiple ways dependent on the subtle variations of planets and however culture develops.

I totally agree with you, though the theory was just one I'd heard and passed on for you guys to chew on for awhile, but wouldn't that be ironic...are whole lives we wonder if there is other life out there when the whole time that other life is asking itself that very question :D

He said that very specific and particular elements must exist for new life to florish on a planet. Thus if the elements that created life here on earth must be virtually almost the same on a far off distant planet, then the little grey aliens we always here about in abduction encounters are truely fiction. An alien from another planet would look almost identical to ourselves (perhaps a few things internally might be a tad different) and the planet they derived from would look virtually the same to our own Earth. The only difference he said that would be noticiable would be their hight. You see all our lives we're being bombarded by our own gravity which makes us a certain hight (average being between 5'5" and 5'10";). If the "aliens" planet had a lower gravity rating then the force applied to them throughout their lives would be less making them much taller...basically just think of a planet where the average hight is like 7 feet tall. And the vise versa is true for a planet with a heavier graviety rating.

Either way what this guys said makes a hell of a lot of sense to me and I tend to think aliens from another planet won't be tiny and spinally with HUGE black eyes, but more like my neighbor across the street.

It is an interesting theory, and theory is all that it is since we as humans of the planet earth can only deduce such things from the results of our own scientific findings. This theory make one big blinding assumption, "very specific and particular elements must exist for new life to florish on a planet" although I am sure this is accurate for life on this planet we shouldn't assume that all life must follow the path of life that we have observed. We are carbon based life forms, all life on this planet can be categorized as carbon based.

What if a life form was based from another element. Could be an element that humans don't even know about. Alien species could evolve from nearly any combination of elements. Sure the environment they live in will most certainly play significant roles in the physical developement of the species, but one thing that we can be certain of if its alive and its out there it is asking the same questions we are now. "Does life exist elsewhere in this universe?"

Actually I think i have the answer in a scientific study done here in our universe lol, I was watching the discover channel one day and this professor of spacial theroies was talking on a show called "Daily Plane" (canadian show) and he had a theory about "Aliens":

He said that very specific and particular elements must exist for new life to florish on a planet. Thus if the elements that created life here on earth must be virtually almost the same on a far off distant planet, then the little grey aliens we always here about in abduction encounters are truely fiction. An alien from another planet would look almost identical to ourselves (perhaps a few things internally might be a tad different) and the planet they derived from would look virtually the same to our own Earth. A franchise like Star Treck could be considered a plausible future. Star Wars on the other hand is still just fantasy. I know its says at the begging a long, long time ago. I'm reffering to future in our narural state since we don't have hyperdrive or blasters yet.

Well, maybe its just the fact that GL would rather have humans in star wars so he could make the other species seem more alien... i mean... if luke skywalker looked like Jar Jar, Leia looked like Chewbacca and Han looked like Jabba then mabe the story wouldn't be that much interesting....

Scientifically.. space is endless... so are the possiblities

or perhaps their universe blew up, sent two meteors our way (see: Destruction of Dinosaurs) and brought Human DNA along.

Perhaps DNA thrives in extreme hot conditions and thus was mixed with the life in the ocean (one of them fell into the ocean) and thus created fish, and the entire chain of evolution started.

Nice theory huh?!:P

Well, considering its a story about a galaxy in a time long past, perhaps humans naturally evolve constantyl (humans evolved on atleast 5 different planets in the SW galaxy) -OR- humans evolve in said Galaxy and our galaxy does not exist.
