What do you think of this?

Personally I don't think something like this can work. But hey... can't blame a guy for trying.

Oh and uh... please keep the discussion civil. I don't mean to start a flame war.

The guy running this was on Hannity and Colmes tonight on Fox News. I think he ended up spouting every single liberal anti war talking point he could think of, including the implication that the United States was the one who sold Saddam all of his military. Also making a claim that the mass graves in Iraq were stopped 10 years ago. If you do read the website you'll also notice his claims. How even after the CBS scandal he claims a media bias in favor or the President, and that despite positives occuring in Iraq you never hear any mention of them in the news. Yeah definite bias in favor of the the president there. One of my personal favorite lines of his was this:
Quote:
sick and tired of having their grandchildren's legacy squandered through ballooning deficits

Yeah you know the grandchildren's legacy like social security which Bush wants to try and fix rather than not worry about it untill 2040 or sooner when it goes broke.

This guy falls right in line with the people that got upset that they were denied their prime egg throwing spots for the innauguration

hey Im not knocking bush, all I said was that in MY country, for the decisions MY government makes, protest has been for a long time a valid and serious factor in our democracy. Im not saying anything about the US, except that you are right, protest tends to be useless there. Im just saying for some other countries, protest serves a completely different function, and is viewed very differently. They are seen as legitimate aspects of a continuous democracy. And by the way, I never mentioned anything about ignorance, Im not starting a flame war, i think you just misinterpreted my post.

Protests only work when people are ignorant (willfully or otherwise). Given just how loudly and often people have protested/complained/ect about everything that everyone in office has done in the past few decades (Regan, both bush's, Clinton) people tend to just tone them out and laugh at it.

Contrary international opinion, the people that live in the US are far from ignorant - Those that are seen as ignorant just are quite resistant to allowing others to influance thier thinking. Just because someone has a closed mind doesnt make them stupid. If this was the case, the entire human race is full of REALLY stupid people.

We chose our fate, and we made what we thought was an ingelegent choice. Weither the rest of the world agree's or not is not our fault. They can deal with the fact that the majority of americans want Bush in office, and we know his faults, we chose what we thought was the lesser of two evils.

I would rather not have this turn into a flame war, because if it does, everyone will have an equal chance to get burnt.

Oh yeah I forgot that. It will be interesting to see who the republican candidate will be. Whether they will stick with a Bush-type character, or try to bring a little more unity to the US by having a more moderate candidate.

Quickly, about protest, you are right. But it is only useless for the US. I personally am happy to that protest can serve an important function in my country, as I believe its a vital aspect of democracy.

Well since Bush has had to deal with the past 4 years of stonewalling by a bunch of democrats refusing to compromise I could let out a long amount of insults to the worthless morons who think that way. Its sad and pathetic and considering that Republicans didn't do this in the 8 years Clinton was president even though he won by a much narrower margin in the popular vote it just shows why Republicans have control of both houses and the Executive Branch.

By the way Gil, The U.S. has a 2 term limit on Presidents so Bush won't run again. So all the hippies that think world piece is possible by sticking daisies in gun barrels will need to find a new person to scream against. I'm sure they will because that's all they know how to do. Protest and never accomplish anything.

Whether they like it or not, the American people now have George Bush for the next four years. No amount of protest or dissent will ever get anything done against him, he has made that clear. The best those americans who feel strongly can do is to attempt to show other voters how they feel by means of intellectual dialogue, and get behind whoever runs against Bush at the next election. Things like this protest wont convince the other part of the electorate to see things differently, and even if the people who voted for him protested, it wouldnt change Bush. Thats one of the reasons people voted for him, he doesnt back down or change his mind, whether wrong or right.

I know of a man who oversaw many more deaths that 100,000. Today he would probably be impeached, if not lynched. He was partly responsible for around 35,000 deaths in one battle alone. In the entire conflict 635,000 people died. Yet we honor Abraham Lincoln with memorials and reverance. What's the difference I wonder? No one can fairly say that this war is all about money and the American Civil War was not. Indeed, ppl can be so stupid.
How will dividing our country further bring us together. That is what ppl like this are attempting to do, whether they admit it or do not.
