What do you feel about anime ? Do you think it's for children or do you think everyone in every age can watch it ? I think that anime is a great piece of work... This isn't just common tale for children for me [but of course there are anime created for children  ], but 4me anime is a thing that creates an emotional link between hero in it and the watcher, it causes that you almost feel the same what hero feels... What do you think about it ? Ekhem... X1999 Only saw the movie.. and its messed up. yeah. Hamtaro, not hta tive seen it, but its not for your age group im assuming. I have to say, all the anime's that ive seen, i enjoyed at the time, for the most part. I mean, maybe im just a media whore... but you know what i mean. I have to defend Evangelion. As an actor, the drama and character development is pretty good... even though Shinji angers me. Beoyond all measure. about RK vs Samurai X... I have to say, my favourite part of Rurouni Kenshin (or Samurai X), would be the first movie, Trust and Betrayal. That is my favourite part of the whole thing (I have this fansub... i think its fansub... and the translation on that beauty... i love it). Oh, and im not saying that its a bad anime, i like it alot. Pokemon and Digimon.. i dont want to get off on a rant here, but the thing with these is... they arent for the older groups. they're kids shows (i never knew about sailor moon though). Alot of the anime's that i know of that people say are crappy,are because they are kids shows, and arent meant for a certain age group. DBZ.. even thought the story may not be the greatest out there... and dragging a fight on for 8 episodes (3 of them are them powering up of course)... i still liked it. to be honest. Oh. and you forgot Gundam Wing... even if its just the Endless Waltz... that was a good one, imho. so thats my rant _______________ When you become an actor, you become the person, and you dont act anymore. Add that crap Hamtaro. God, every morning the guys next door's kids have it on full volume... Hell. And luke skywalker, rurouni kenshin rocks. It sucks in English, but I found it to be really good in Jap with subtitles.And Slam Dunk was incredible. It had everything, humour, girls  , and random fighting. Good anime - Must see Scrapped Princess Genshiken (The Society for the Study of Visual Culture - best geek anime ever) Full Metal Alchemist (The japanese subs, not the horrible english dub on cartoon network) Cowboy Beebop* Naruto (It starts off weak but I swear if you watch to episode 19 you won't regret it) Full Metal Panic Famufu Martian Successor Nadesico* Somewhat good anime - Entertaining on Sat afternoons Full Metal Panic (I've been told it's availible on DVD and I've heard the dub but I have yet to see it in stores) I My Me Strawberry Eggs* Onegai Twins Dragon Drive .hack//sign* Arc the Lad* Bad Anime - Better than doing nothing, sort of Pokemon* Dragon ball Z* (I know I watched over 100 episodes of it but... it wasn't worth it really) Evangelion* (I don't care what any of you say. They took a good mecha anime and bored me to tears in a failing attempt for drama) And if you go looking for any of these you might not find them. Yeah, I think the problem with anime, is there is just a lot of really really bad anime. Turning on TechTV or Cartoon Network will make you think its pure crap (well about 80% of the time at least) And other than a few friends who like it and similiar taste to me, I really wouldn't even know where to look for good anime. _______________ Silent Bob (Kevin Smith): You know, there's a million fine looking women in the world, dude. Anime, in my opinion, is like all other forms of media. You can have great anime's that may leave an impact on your life, but for every great anime there's a craptastic anime to bring it down. I had a friend actually go to college for animation. Anime is probably the lowest grade animation you'll find. One example he pointed out is you'll rarely see a character moving around and talking at the same time. If you look at a lot of the martial arts anime you'll notice the characters holding a pose for quite awhile, and they'll also pan up a single cell while it doesn't move. It may be drawn very well but the animation is not top grade. On a scale of 0-10, 0 being a comic book panel and 10 being a disney feature film, I'd say its a 5. There are just as many craptastical rip-off animes out there as there are bad reality telivision shows. But on with the thread question. See, in Japan, anime is obviously one of their top forms of entertainment. It is a huge genre that branches out into about a million other genres. It is as if all forms of movie and television entered the world of animation. So you have sci-fi, horror, action, comedy, children, ect. all being animated whether for TV or theatrical release. It's a huge subculture that greatly influences their society. But there are just as many people who hate anime in Japan as those who love it. That's to be expected though. Because people have different taste so not every one will love the same things. We all obviously love Star Wars, right? The films have obviously impacted our society greatly and has made most SW names and phrases house hold terms. But that doesn't mean that there are not hundreds of other people out there who couldn't give a rat's behind about SW and all things related. So basically my point is that taste is taste. You might hate all anime, love all anime, or just enjoy some of it. Anime is just one big ass genre filled with every other subgenre of entertainment. Anime is like a movie put into cartoons. Cause anime has a story line pand beautiful artwork. all anime i've seen is amazing and seems not to be childish at all. but i cant say the same for american cartoons because absolutly none of them have a storyline to follow and are poorly drawn. |

It depends on the story. Some times, people just take the anime structure and completely deform it, turning it into a 500 episode stretch (not mentioning any well known animes here ). I mean, a story should be long, but you don't have to drag out a 10 minute fight over seven episodes. Other animes, however, like Akira or Bebop, are incredible works of art.
