LOL. I never encountered those bugs. I'm bored with it yes, but its darn fun to run around shooting those stupid wimpy geonosian drones (aka bugs). It is simply the best first person shooter i've ever experienced. but it needs WAAAY more maps, a longer story line, and a sequel that has jedi clones intergrated into delta squad and your that jedi clone or the clone commander, depending on which story mision you take. But still, boring after a while. |

They are damn accurate aswell. Makes for a slightly imbalanced combo when they pick up a sniper :p True, they were definitely very useful against those annoying Magna Guards lol. I'm happy I didn't have to face off alone against one of them in the last solo bit of the game. Sometimes, a few of my squadmates would get stuck on some objects while going to get some bacta or following me around, little difficult to get them unstuck heh. I had to shoot Fixer a couple of times to get him moving. Once, during the Kashyyyk missions, Scorch actually went into this semi-conscious state, where he was on the ground needing medical attention, yet the health status on my tactical readout showed him in yellow. Any time I tried to get him some help, Sev or Fixer would mention they couldn't comply with my orders lol. From that point on, I decided to keep on going without Scorch. Funny thing is though, once I cleared out a couple of areas (still in the same part of the mission), I'd turn around and see Scorch on the floor lol. I decided to pump a few shots into him. Immediately, he got up for a few seconds, and then fell to the floor again. After I got through that mission, Scorch was in working order again heh. _______________ "Do or do not, there is no try" Jedi Master Yoda Dual Saberist This comment was edited by R2D2 on Aug 09 2007 04:46pm. |

This game was a blast when i played it back in 2005. Too short though, but it was great while it lasted

Despite the anti-climatic ending (and cliff hanger), Republic Commando was definitely a nice single-player game. There weren't that many "tough" situations, but the game definitely encourages using your squad effectively. Also, it's nice having squad mates with unlimited ammo lol. Would be nice to have a follow up to RC, considering the ending sort of sets that up (although that setup could just be for ROTS). _______________ "Do or do not, there is no try" Jedi Master Yoda Dual Saberist |

(SPOILER ALERT: This discusses the story ending, so don't read it if you don't want to know!) Too short, yes, or perhaps just not hard enough. The level of detail on the maps was simply astonishing, so it's hard to say that the game was lacking in content--it's just that one is overwhelmed by content in such a short period of time, and it seems like it's over just when the player is getting warmed up. Making it more difficult would have added to play time. The single-player interface is innovative and intuitive and lets the player interact with surprisingly intelligent AI teammates. The team goes through a door the way that a real special forces team would (the "extras" on the CD include a documentary about how the animation team hired a real spec ops trainer with real combat experience to teach them how it works). Perhaps the best part is how the characters come alive. In the overwhelming majority of FPSes I feel nothing for any of the characters. The breezy, believable dialog really brings out the commaraderie (sp?) amongst the commandos, and when Sev went missing I really felt for his brothers the way I'd feel for characters in a good novel. The ending is sad but satisfyingly believable. I was expecting a romanticized, Hollywood-style ending, but instead got a realistic ending. Sev is almost certainly dead, but still we want to see the commandos defy their orders and rush in to save him, John Wayne-style. But no. They choose duty over wishful thinking, as their lost brother would want them to do, and that is a more touching and meaningful tribute to him than any hopeless rescue attempt would have been. It's a sad but also stirring and inspiring ending, and like the other elements of the game it brings to life the hard reality of war. The multiplayer game: I didn't like it at all. The innovative and intuitive interface from the single-player game is gone, as is anything innovative at all. It's just another FPS, only without the complex missions and must-have teamwork of a game like Enemy Territory. Here they did something truly original with the single player campaign, and I was expecting similar magic in the multiplayer. Maybe in RC2? _______________ My signature is only one line. It looked pretty cool, but it's short and boring? That sucks if so. I don't see a problem with clones having individual personalities. Clones are simply twins--artificially created ones, but twins nonetheless. I've known identical twins--and I mean i-freakin'-dentical--and they certainly had their own personalities. Genetics just determine the baseline, the raw material for the brain. There's still free will (and yes, the clones had free will even though they were engineered to be loyal and follow orders; one of their selling points was that, unlike battle droids, they could think on their feet and engage in creative problem-solving, so while they'd certainly follow orders they could also think for themselves.) _______________ My signature is only one line. It was pretty good. Visuals are ok, and it wouldn't have hurt to have had a few more interesting weapons. They also butchered some aspects of the Star Wars universe (ie. drastically changing the appearance of Trandoshans and Wookies and giving the clones individual voices and personalities). It was pretty short and the ending had that typical set-up for a sequel, but all around it was a solid game. _______________ When great gentlemens come together in a place. It could happen.
