Okay, right now, I'm running a completely clean system (nothing but windows and the necessary driver etc etc etc on here), and I'm using Win. ME, because it's one of the only OS's that allows me to use my Video Camera on my computer. I've used it before, but now, it doesn't want to run, because my computer doesn't see the camera plugged in. It's a firewire connection, it's plugged in right, and yet it doesn't work. There is a USB 2.0 driver on here too, which is what I need, I am told. I was wondering if y'all had any suggestions for me to make it run. Should it be any help, I'm running an older JVC model, called JVC GR-DVL145 I have updated my windows until it could find no more updates, and I am running the latest version of DirectX. Any help here will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance - Bail - _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website! wtf ? i thought u use a firewire connection into the PC ? thats all mpeg2 then...... :?!? ok. whatever. you just need a cinch to standard jack converter cable. costs like 4-5 euros. you might also need a gender changer to make them fit together. costs like 1 euro. just jack that to the line in of your soundcard then. i think its the blue one. red/white/yellow are part of the composite video input. red/white = sound yellow = picture what soundcard do you have? an easy option mey be to get a jacto to convert the white/red composite sound to a single 3.5mm input and use that into line in if your soundcard cant handle the composite input. _______________ Joined 16 October 2004 | Retired 10 April 2005 | Returned 05 June 2008 | Made Staff 27 June 2008 | Made Council 18 January 2009 Padawan To Odan-Wei Belouve | Adopted into the Belouve family | Twin to xAnAtOs | Owner of the 4th Quesi sexy badge Owner Of Virtue's 1000th profile comment, Mr. Doobie's 1000th profile comment, Gradius' 2500th comment, xAnAtOs' 2500th comment, Rosered's 1500th comment, Laziana's 900th comment, Scythus' 500th comment and Echuu's 100th comment |

alrighty I got the vid to work except for sound though, still need help on that I used an S-video cable to transport the video to my computer, but as you can guess, I have no sound now I also have a port with a cable with three colors, one that you can also find on the back of your television set. You know, the red, yellow and white fiche type of things. Red and White seem to be "sound" as it says on the connecter, and I tried finding some ports for it, but it doesn't work when I plug them into either one I have no idea what to do next but I can only tell Windows Movie Maker (or any other program) that the sound will be coming through my soundcard, so I'm a bit confused. I have a few ports, I tried recording on all of them, but none get me sound. Any ideas on what I could do? _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website! jebus, weird camera. weird win ME. well either take ur camera to someone who has a proper firewire setup to check it, or have some other firewire gadgets borrowed. u gotta verify where the fault is. as for resources, do you have any question marks or signs in the device manager ? I suspect the hardware resources arent aligned properly. (plug and pray) so, deactivate plug and play in the BIOS. set all pci irq resources to "manual" control, then boot into windows and reassign them manually to your likes. note that IRQ sharing only works for devices that are not network, or mass storage. so firewire cant share with nething. _______________ One of the Belouve boys, founder of the mighty FiZZsters Midbie council #20 - Fizz - #1933 - Jan '03 - Aug '04 "Renfield, you idiot!" |

Quote: what happens when you turn on now? any beeps? does it do post? or do errors come up? it boots up all fine right unto the point where it shows the "Windows Me" boot screen, then the screen goes black with a white cursor. I'm not able to do anything at all, and the darn thing just stays that way The screen-malfunction I'm also having, is probably just a hardware thing, since that thing is old anyway, and has been acting odd lately Oh well, I'll guess I'll just have to re-format that baby if he doesn't give in _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website! ouch i dont really know a lot about firewire, but about winME. you need a helluva lot of patches and stuff to get USB to work properly, and even more for firewire. *shrugs* u wouldnt, by any chance, have any other firewire devices to test this ? the chances are slim to none, but maybe u got a replacement cable ? my cousin had a "defective" scanner, turned out it was just his cable.... _______________ One of the Belouve boys, founder of the mighty FiZZsters Midbie council #20 - Fizz - #1933 - Jan '03 - Aug '04 "Renfield, you idiot!" |
