Quote: you see, heres the big decision buster... Jean-Luc Picard guides the enterprise through an asteroid field at one quarter impulse power... Han Solo Floors it! Lol compare the enterprises size to the millenium falcons size. Then try and guide THAT metal behemoth through a asteroid field. xD I loved Star Trek for the awesome ship-ship battles, especially the dominion wars and the classic CGI effects! _______________ Proud owner of El Vee For's 200th Comment, and Wicek's 2600th comment DaMi3N's 400th, Trad Redav's 666th. Its a no brainer, Star Trek is the greatest Sci-Fi TV series of all time. Star Wars is the greatest Sci-Fi movie series of all time. I like em both equally. Never did care for anything but ST/TOS, though. _______________ Gone but hopefully not forgotten... |

Well, obviously I love Star Wars, but I'm a Trek fan too. I don't watch Enterprise (the latest series) but I used to watch a lot of TNG back in the day. I'm not as big a fan as I used to be, but I still dig it. |

I enjoy them both, but it's hard to make a direct comparison. Star Wars is flat out "Good vs. Evil" action packed drama. It's designed to excite and entertain, and it does a good job of it. Star Trek, at its core, has always been about using science fiction to tackle stories about moral issues. Gene Roddenberry used the sci-fi mask to do stories about things that, at the time, would've been banned from the networks on a "normal" program. There are many Trek shows, from the old series and the newer ones, that draw inspiration from real world events. For example: A Next Generation episode titled "The Drumhead", where an admiral goes on a massive investigation to uncover a conspiracy after an explosion on the Enterprise. Nobody is safe from this character's inquisition, not even Captain Picard, who likens the proceedings to old military drumhead trials. For me, it brings to mind the McCarthy era communist hunts. _______________ http://steamcommunity.com/id/citizen059 |

Quote: I like both. StarWars has cooler weapons and awsome spaceships. StarTrek is more "realistic" in a way. I mean that later our society will look more StarTrek-like then StarWars-like. Pfft! It's SciFi, who wants reality? However, you're right. Our society won't turn out like Star Wars because: 1. It was a long time ago. 2. It was in a galaxy far, far away. I'm sorry, but compare this to this. Or this to this. You kids who even contemplate a comparison obviously weren't around when Star Wars debuted on the big screen in 1977.
