If Obi Wan and Qui Gon hadn't saved his life on Naboo, how would they have gotten passage to the capital, and how would they have gotten the Gungun warriors to fight in the battle? Who knows, maybe they could have, but that's not how the story goes. And it's likely Padme never would have started a vote to give the Chancellor emergency powers, but Jar Jar was easily persuaded. He does provide some comix relief, and completely breaks the ice in Anakin and Padme's first meeting in Episode 2. But I dunno. I guess you have to drop your star wars nerd, and just enjoy the movies to appreciate Jar Jar. Yeh, so Jar Jar, cool character, but obviously a moron. Sometimes to the annoyance of Star Wars nerds like us. Yes, he played some important roles in the movie, but why did they have to make his role the most annoying character is SW history? Why couldn't they make him not annoying, or incredibly stupid? I can see the whole theatre bursting out into cheering as Jar Jar gets sliced in half in EP III. God if only it could be true.... Anyway, The idea of comic relief in a movie is ok, but not scene after scene of of a moronic headache. Why do you think Lucas minimized his role in EP II? Because the fans were sick of him. Jar-Jar is by far the worst character ever. I prefer those special animations put in Return of the Jedi at Jabba's palace. You know, the ones that sing and dance, but fit better in a Disney movie? Yeah, those guys. I prefer them over Jar-Jar. In fact, if they just had a rock replace Jar-Jar, that would be more interesting. Imagine Obi Wan and Qui Gon talking to a rock the whole time, or a rock on the Senate.
