Petition to shut it down. I've always thought petitiononline.com was retarded. I guarantee you that nobody but nobody has ever been influenced by one. If 100 people sit down and write actual, physical letters to your Congressman and mail them, he'll sit up and take notice (I believe the rule of thumb for Congressional staffers is that for every one letter they receive from a constituent there are approximately 500 voters who feel the same way about whatever the issue is, so don't think you're wasting your time by writing). But when your Congressman's e-mail gets spammed with a petition "signed" with a zillion e-mail addresses that could all have been posted by the same person, he hits the delete button without reading it. Most of these get kicked to the curb by spam-filtering software anyway, I suspect. _______________ My signature is only one line. You're welcome. |

Yea, I kinda get their point. It'd be something else if the petitions they make actually amounted to something. I agree, writing to someone like your local Member of Parliament does far more than their petitions. I guess it's there just as a general survey, rather than an actual document used in the real world. _______________ Brother to Luke Skywalker and (SKX) Dark Blade Lag Brother to Acey Spadey Jools is my best friend. <Henkes> nebody feeling like abusing me with a lightsaber?|+Smilykrazy grabs Gradius, beats the living CRAP out of him, then throws him into a huge vat of ACID |
