Ok, this is kinda wierd cos i know some of you dont' like football...but this is quite serious... Tranmere Rovers Football Club player Calvin Zola is NOT aloud to play for TRFC because of some immigration reasons...blah blah, i can't explaint...i hope this will help you understand. -------------------------------------------------- If ever something will bring a squad together, it is Calvin Zola's current situation. Brian Little revealed how players and staff have supported the striker who has been unable to play since November. Zola's work right to work and stay in the United Kingdom was taken away by the Home Office last year, and although he has since been granted a work permit, it is dependent on him returning to his native Congo to obtain a Visa - something he fears could be a danger to his life. The Manager said: "Myself, Richard, Les and everybody have been having chats with Calvin. The lads have all pulled together and there's a million different things that have been going on with him. Some days it has been quite sad, some days we've been quite chirpy and laughing about the situation with a footballer's mentality. "There have been some days where we've really had to lift Calvin. He's had days where he's been very down but the majority of times he's done unbelievably well to stick at it. When we went for the work permit and we knew we'd had a good hearing, there were a few days when he was as high as a kite. After that period, when we got a knock back, that was when he was at his lowest. There have been days where we've laughed together and it would be a lie to say there haven't been days where there have been tears. "I've been in football a long time and have been through all sorts of situations where people are up and down but this has been quite incredible and we just hope it all sorts itself out for him as he deserves the opportunity." Little was keen to stress how important he felt being allowed to train has been for Zola over the past few months. He added: "Along with his mum, he's obviously got the strength to go through it but I don't think he deserves not to train. That would have been a different scenario for him. Being able to train has been very important. "Being able to get out there, get some kit on and run around with the lads has been good for him. To have that amount of freedom has been very important. "In fairness to him he's worked his socks off. There have been so many sessions where he's needed to do more work than the others to keep his fitness up but he's never moaned about it. "It's remarkable how he's kept going, he's a brave lad. "We think so much of him. Even though he hasn't been playing, on the training ground he has improved beyond all measure. If we could get him back it would be a major plus for us." -------------------------------------------------- Petition is here please dont delete this thread...i REALLY want as many people as possible to sign it so HOPEFULLY we can get CZ to play for us (the Tranmere fans). Have to register to read that. Minding that I'm not able to read the articles, is the petition just about him not being able to play because of immigrational trouble, and nothing else? If so, then it's kinda silly, cos you can't bend the rules for one player. But I haven't read it, so only asking. |
