Ok, so I just moved 3.1 miles from work. I would like to get a bike to ride instead of driving. I have a few friends who are into mountain biking. So it would be cool to get a mountain bike. Basically, I know nothing about bikes. What would be the best type of bike for communting? Brands, price ranges? giant over mongoose for sure, but if u can get specialized then get them, awesome build. dont get a dual suspension one cos it will screw your ass up, get front shocks one only to take some of the roughness of the roads. or u could get a MONTY like me  Monty Bikes* _______________ If you add me to MSN, tell me who you are

I recommend Mongoose as well. Also, check out Giant. Generally considered less "awesome" than Mongoose, but still very reliable bikes with a lot to choose from. _______________ make install -not war |

Mongoose's (Mongeese?) are definitely awesome bikes. If you want to do stunts and tricks while going to work, you may want to look into a schwinn bike, but I hear they have mountain bikes too so it's all good. Schwinn has some pretty cheap bikes, but I suggest Mongoose because I think they are higher of quality, although I don't really know their price ranges. |

Mongoose, all the way. They're durable, upgradable, and just flat out rock. Get one of their mountain bikes.
