I haven't hade a bit of meat execpt form the odd chicken broth and eggs in 5 years. Tonight I had brisket and sausage. It was delicious, and I'm not kidding. I also got the unexpected bonus of feeling like complete and utter crap in the dryer on high. I'm afraid to try it again. _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |

Heheh I've been vegetarian for 5 years.. I know how to cook and all.. and Quorn rules.. as does the Morningstar Farms Chick Nuggets. Damn fine stuff.

i did a HE(home economics) project on vegeterianism(stillcantspellit)
YAWN zzz.. zzzz. zzz.. Wha! Wha! just 5 more minutes. Oh yeah as i was saying i now have a pretty good grasp of it.But i still decided to continue eating meat. DJ mabey you should use quorn- looks like meat,cooks like meat and i tastes JUST like meat.I used it in my cooking part,could not tell the difference.You can get it in convinince food form if thats handier for you.I think you can get chicken versions but i dont know,but someone did do a chicken curry so thier must be a chicken alternative out there.She didnt like it so the rest of the class got forks and tried,tasted just like chicken.(mmm chicken curry :  ops getting slober on keyboard:

Good for you DJ. I've been having vegetarianism forced on me by mom for the past 2 years. The only reason I don't put up that much of a fight is because of the health issues. On big brand farms they pump the animals full of steroids and antibiodics. But back to DJ's dilemma. DJ I totally support you in staying vegetarian and all you have to do is explain to you're girlfriend that going vege will help her fit into that cute outfit she bought a few years back. Also if you do decide to eat meat occasionally my suggestion would be to not eat anything processed(ie. sausage, burgers, chicken nuggets ect.) but to go for the good stuff like spare ribs or a steak. One meat that I won't give up though is fish(if you call that a meat) since I'm in a port city and we have the best seafood in America. Go Vege (My friend had a towel with that on it.) |

I agree with Buzz on this. If you choose to be a vegetarian, cool! As long as you're not trying to convert others to your way of thinking.
I'll be honest and say that I have yet to hear a good reason, except for health reasons, to become a vegatarian. I always like dennis leary's view on things like this. "being a vegetarian is a choice, but eating meat is murder and murder tastes pretty good damn." Honestly though if you want to be a vegetarian go for it. Just as long as you aren't going and trying to force everyone else to do it like those peta people who always preach about animal rights and other garbage. Granted I don't think you should mistreat animals or do cruel things to them, but a lion doesn't make sure its alright with the zebra if she can kill it. Wow that sounds harsh. I think you should ease into it next time.
On the other hand maybe you weren't meant to eat meat. I used to work at an animal refuge that housed a lot of exotics (mostly primates.) The two guys that ran the place were vegetarians, and yet we fed meat to several of our animals like our black leopards. I used to give them a hard time about that just for fun (they were cool guys.)
