I was just downloading some lightsaber hilts and it got me thinking. Have you people realised (i bet alot of you have realised) that Luke's LS in ANH n ESB is supposed to be anakin's LS from episode 3. Coz when obi wan gave it to luke, he said "this was your father's lightsaber". Also, in ANH, was obi wan using the lightsaber from ROTS? He should be. Jedi don't make new LS unless the old one was lost/destroyed. Did anybody notice if they're the same or not? SPOILER BELOW IF YOU HAVEN'T READ EU BOOKS To extend on this topic, when luke's hand was cut off by vader in ESB, the LS was lost aswell. But in the Thrawn Triology (i think, not sure) luke's hand was actually recovered, and a clone of luke was made, weilding anakin's/luke's LS!. Kevin J. This is how old the series is. check it out Lukes LS from ROTJ was custom made on a lathe from aluminum stock the Newest sabers are created much the same was as Lukes Green blade in ROTJ, spun on a lathe, then decorated with switches and so on. Then a foam rubber mold is made from the master copy and many rubber replicas are made from the mold then painted to look authentic. the saber hilts used during filming of dueling are the above rubber hilts with a sturdy piece of fiber glass inserted into the rubber prop. Yeah they are the same, although in my opinion Anakins looks a little diferent, also in ANH they attach their Lightsabers to their belt's with metal D ring's where in I, II, III, they attach them with some other type of plastic clip.
