Personally, while I can see the effect that Elvis had on music in general, I detest his style.

The Beatles aren't one of my favorites, nor will they ever be, but the sheer volume of good quality and VARIED usic that they put out gives them a worthy mention.

Most influential? Today? Clearly the Beatles...how many (successful) Elvis covers have there been in the last 15 years compared to Beatles ones in the charts...even though the charts suck?

You can't really complain about my comparison from the basis that Elvis's stuff isn't pop, because at the time, it was...

Furthermore, I can't think of many recent successes that have heavily credited Elvis...straight off the top of my head I think Oasis, Kula Shaker, Pulp, Blur...not to mention the boy band scum...lol.

And one more thing....rubbernecking sucks and The Walrus pwns j00! :D

EDIT:/

LMAO!!! just noticed the date...Cuzza, you suck!:D

Wise I think you've missed the point. Its not Beatles fans against Elvis fans. Its who you think is the greatest. You listen to a lot of musicians and The Beatles are almost certainly guaranteed to be listed as an influence to them. No one is taking anything away from Elvis. He is a major influence in rock n roll. But the Beatles are a bigger one. You seem to be the only one wanting to put down the Beatles. Everyone else just thinks that the Beatles were bigger than Elvis, not elvis sucked and the beatles rule. I wonder if you could find total album sales between elvis and the beatles and see who has sold more albums to date.

Damn, I AM the only elvis fan here. Frustrating. Can't compete with the hordes of the Fag4 by my own...
Btw elvis sold out more stadiums than the beatles, but I see your point.
And about the dancing; A true artist can PERFORM that is singing AND dancing. So while the beatles may have sung better, Elvis was the bigger artist.
And he may have been a dumb white cracker, the beatles were FOUR dumb white crackers.

Wise, your "case" only proves one thing and it has become larger now. You're associating who's better by how they dance. That's the problem with today's music, its more how you look rather than how you play. I'd rather be able to close my eyes and still get the majority of the meaning of a song than to have to be watching the performers to get it all. Nothing like very visual music. Because you know music is all about the looks.

But I say only this: You dance like Elvis, chicks come running.
You dance like the Beatles, fags come running...
I rest my case:P

Rock 'n' Roll was "invented" by the American blacks. It basically was formed from the Blues and Jazz of the day. Elvis Presley basically put it on the map. But the Beatles changed Rock & Roll almost by themselves.

I would say that The Beatles did more for rock n roll than Elvis could ever do. I'm not saying he's not influential, but he certainly didn't put in like the beatles did.

Oh the minds of the young. I'm saying that and I'm only 20. Elvis didn't help to invent rock n' roll. Chuck Berry did more than he did as did Buddy Holly. They don't call the day elvis died The Day The Music Died.

Between The Beatles and Elvis, Beatles hands down. You can't ignore what Elvis did for Rock & Roll, but the Beatles definitely did a lot more.

As far as my personal faves:

1)Rush
2)Frank Zappa
3)Phish

But as an outsider I would have Gnags with their song "Vilde kaniner" (wild rabbits - how ironic :D) from the 70's.
