I just want to know if we are a religious people here at the JA. So what religion do you belive in if any? Personally I don't belive in it, but what are your opinion, and why do you belive in it if you do so?

Well I must be a machine then, cause I don't believe in squat. My view is, if I haven't seen it in real life , or touched it or heard it. Then it doesn't exist. So basically there is no god. Until I see a real miracle like some children in a bus crashing down a mountain and floats back up to the road. Or starving children in ethopia, get some food. Is there a God? that question is so open there is no true way to answer it, which would all depend on your personal beliefs and how you were brought up and even the surrounding society. and we have quite a vast society here at the academy. with people from all walks of life. from both the northern and southern hemisphere. Goths, skaters, wierdo's, jocks, cheerleaders, nerds, book worms, artists, technicians, umemployed, working, bums, boys, girls, men, women, singles, dating, married, old, retired, senile, unkles, aunties, and whoever else we have here  .and I'm positive that every single one here has something different to say on the subject of Religion. if its one god or many gods, female or male, human, animal or mythical. so you can't really put it down to one thing without upsetting a hell of a lot of people. Each religion has different beliefs of how Life came into existance, even science has an idea or how it began and there have been many debates of if science should be used to find out if it's true or not. and even wars were started because of just personal beliefs. like massa had said, everyone has handled this as an adult...but as you think of it. Adults were the one responsible for the wars. so i guess I could say everyones acting like children. by accepting others beliefs and if there is a dispute about it, just play around and not start a war. so Is there a god? well, no comment, I believe in cats and dogs, and Life in general. cause that's what it's all about.. lol lianette im not even gonna bother spellin hmmm...i dont think that gods a person that you can name and see, if anythin, it would be somethin that you feel and influences you. to me god is those things that make you feel all warm and mushy inside. a smile from a cute girls, sitting under a tree on a beautiful day, listening to the soothin patter of rain on your roof, just laying down and a nice couch after a long day, those damn good homemade warm mushy cookies mmmmmm... yummm, etc.... Although I don't act it in the servers, I'm sort of gothic. That's why my skin was COMPLETELY pale (to people who remember from the oldbie ages.) But hey, there's a God. Personnally i don't think we as humans are meant to pray...but If anyone played the game Black and White on PC you'll see that in the concept there's a bit of philosophy thats says that if you believe in a God or upper-being he will exist but if you don't he doesn't why? because if you think theres a god up you head directing your life and HELPING you out you'll do great and you'll think he HELPS you whenever something good happens. It's important to remember that the bible and, as far as I know, all holy scriptures were written by men. Men, guided or not, make mistakes. Translations can have errors, things can be misunderstood. One thing that gets me though.
If you study many religions, they're all practically the same, just with a few adjustments to fit with the culture. That's one bloody enormous coincidence, if you ask me. Another thing: People seem convinced that God is some guy subject to emotions and whatnot. Um.. yeah... I don't think so. Another thing: There's no such thing as a bad thing. Everything is an experience to learn, everybody has their purpose. Everybody accomplishes something in their life. Just because one doesn't understand or see a purpose doesn't mean it's NOT there. It may be the sole purpose of starving and suffering people to teach us things. It may be MY soul purpose to be shot and killed, and create a governmental upheaval. Who knows. But there's purpose behind it and everybody's life. don't worry, i'm keeping an eye on this thread because i know it can explode... i'm extremely impressed how calm everyone's discussions have been though. it'll die at some point, probably when we all decide we have nothing else to say without causing a fight... it's better to agree to disagree than disagree about agreeing
oh, and one more thing... i think all christian's should read the book "confessions" by St. Augustine. No matter what church you come from, he serves as the secular basis for a lot of what Christians believe... he basically built the Catholic faith, the Protestant faiths believe in a lot of what he says (faith over reason mainly), and for my fellow Mormons (what up faded), he indirectly caused the Great Apostasy because a lot of people only listened to the stuff he got wrong and ignored the stuff he got right. _______________ -Academy Leader/Dictator/Defeater of DJ Sith and JACen Solo in the JAK+ Tournament -I do think it (the JA) will help convert dozens, maybe hundreds, to the dork nation... --me This comment was edited by doobie on Mar 28 2003 07:49am. |
