I started playing at JK3 and just went back and played the other titles. (see my post) Having completed them all, I gave some thought to the potential for a new title. My personal opinion is that they should go in a different direction. I do think there were many improvements in JK3, but I think that if they perpetuated the series based on what the current storyline is...it would get a bit contrived and hokey, diluting the possibilities of maintaining this genre. Heh, well its up to lucas arts as they OWN the license for the JK series since they made the first few.. Yeah Raven does have some good tools, though some came from the Q3 engine, but most were made here for Raven since they had them for a while..Don't forget the SoF series is made by Raven and powered by Q3 as well as Elite Force also Q3 based. My only conditions for JK4 are that it *not* be made by Raven, and that it have a Linux port.  (EDIT: Oh, and preferably a newer engine. If they actually took more time to break down the styles before they slopped em together they could easily make different styles. There are supposed to be weaknesses in style. People think blue stance is weak, but I know some people that can own me outright with it. Its not story line that I have a problem with sometimes. It's saber fighting. And the overall realism. Jedi are so different from eachj other yet we all fight the same., move the same. Maybe in different combinations but its the same. I'd like to choose between a dozen different fighting style. MEh, i'm not keeping up hopes that there ever will be a JK4. I seriously doubt it but if they were to make one. I dunno, it'd be pretty cool to play jk3 through kyles eyes. I prefered playing the game with Kyle rather than some random newbie that had no background and barely any character traits. If you want a game that makes you feel like you've created this awesome jedi who will change the course of the SW universe then play KOTOR. For example, the first "mission" in jk3 Kyle gets instructed by Luke to "Stay here and investigate..." I wanted to investigate!! He was saying, during the clone wars, not afterward...either way though...I think that would be a tough storyline to weave...considering this character would either be killed off eventually or would have to be explained away. I'm not totally averse to the Kyle thing, but I think they're running out of siths to kill off. I think the KOTOR historical way would make more believable sense, as I understand, sith were more prevalent during that time. Well i think JK3 wasnt as good as JK2 in both story and gameplay but still very good. the storylines were very similar between JK2 and 3 so they shouldnt really have another one soo similar. I really like the idea of couriscant (sp) missions and i believe new engines could easily show the detail of the planet with good specs of course. But it still shouldnt stray too far away from the original JK formula. |
