http://cube.ign.com/articles/651/651559p1.html so IGN atleast has added another article or modified the article to show another device the the new controller will be able to use. Its basically a GC controller with the center removed, and the new controller slides in. So now you can have the GC controller with all of its buttons and the new features!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I guess this will be my prediction for how each generation will be controlled. 1.) NES - uses the new controller turned at 90 degrees 2.) Snes uses the GC style controller which has two top buttons like the SNES, and A, B, X, Y like the nes 3.) N64, uses the GC style controller, I think this should be straight. 4.) GC - GC style controller. 5.) Revolution games will probably be a large mixture. I am guessing to start with they will just use the GC style controller and it will be just like using a wavebird, this way it makes for easier development ports. The games made by Nintendo will be the 1st to use all the new controller features then with new rounds of development other companies will embrace the technology. Does anyone else think Sony and Microsoft will just steal this idea in this generation of consoles? _______________ Silent Bob (Kevin Smith): You know, there's a million fine looking women in the world, dude. Say it with me now. This is a good thing Porting requirements are whats making new PC and console games suck more. I don't care about reaching a larger audience. Game developers should choose a platform for their game and stick with it. Besides who would want to port a Revolution game to PS2 or XBox with their sucky antiquated controllers? ![]() _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |

Only problem I can forsee for nintendo is portability; it will be nearly impossible to directly port a game over from the PC or another console, so game developers will mostly have to make specialised games just for the revolution. _______________ Padawan to the great Jacen Aratan! <Setementor> Scythus is a genius! I would say that this would give nintendo a big advantage in first person shooters. I've never been comfortable with them on consoles just because it always felt awkward. This would almost be like having a mouse to control your aiming. You're practically holding the gun. And you know what their real goal is with this. My opinions tend to lean towards favoring the Revolution over the consoles. Ever since the SNES (In my opinion, the greatest console to ever hit our homes), Nintendo has been in the shadows of Sony and now Microsoft as well. Nintendo's like a fine TV show that gets cancelled, it still has a HUGE solid fan base foundation. These are the folks that know Nintendo for their past contributions to our imaginations growing up and the fun they provided and still provide through their trademarks. Certainly the Gamecube isn't seen as mighty in comparison to the Xbox or PS2, but hot damn, they do know how to make video games and fun for everyone. My times in consoles period have waned to nonexistence with the PC being the big taker of time, but Nintendo continues to impress me. I just hope that developers don't shy away and give our imaginations a run for our money with the games they'll create for the revolution. *imagines swinging the master sword with the new revolution controller* PS: Make sure you just don't look at the picture, but watch the short movie about the controller. Remember, let the imagination fly.... _______________ Be honorable, be friendly, be trustworthy. Show respect to all whom you meet. Don't forget you learn when you win AND when you lose. Quote: I don't think so Lief.. the design is simple, yet it works..I mean who doesn't know how to use a remote? And you can turn it sideways so its almost like a nes controller..very cool! Yes but this is my concern, there are two type of people who I see really hurting the Revolution. 1.) Lief's type: "Oh, no new!!!!!!!!!" (sorry to pick on your Lief) 2.) The omg I want an Xbox 360 because it can output 1080p the Revolution only does 480p that console SUCKS!!!! Yes, somehow there are people out there who see a pretty picture and think that MUST mean the game is better. (note most of these people will probably still on have standard TV [not HD] and still have to use component/s-video cables. Yeah, I know I went off on a bit of rant. Its partially because I work with some of the people in #2 and they make me want to see what kind of damage a 19" CRT monitor can do to person. P.S. this thread should be overflowing with comments, we are all here because of a game, and here is what could be the next step in gaming advancement! _______________ Silent Bob (Kevin Smith): You know, there's a million fine looking women in the world, dude. Oh my fungarowsk'ing God, this is too much of a change to handle. Everyone is so used to ps2/xbox/gamecube controllers and keyboards, it may take generations before high skilled people begin to step up from the mist of retardivity (exaggeration). Ok, so this will be my non-star ways fanboy post ![]() I thik this is really great and could really propel nintendo into the FPS console. All the people who used it claim it felt natural + the future idea (tilt forward/back for scope on a sniper rifle) My fear is that they will get out of hand. i.e. a new controller attachment for ever gaming making each game cost $75+ USD But this is the nintendo I remeber. This is what happens when instead of spending your R&D money on making your system output 1080p. Innovation. I always felt I was in the minority caring more about gameplay than graphics. But I guess I have a new whole gaming company behind me. Nice. Now I will become a star wars and nintendo fanboy. ![]() _______________ Silent Bob (Kevin Smith): You know, there's a million fine looking women in the world, dude. There is still the analog stick its an adapter that plugs into the bottom of the controller, so its "optional", that goes in your other hand, IGN has a video from nintendo check that out. I can't wait for this to be released and see what developers can do with it. If you watch the video you can see how games will be come more interactive. like you have ot move your arms with the controller in hand to say swing a sword or weapon, or aim at the screen to shoot your gun, turn your wrists to make a car turn or to turn a characters head in a FPS or for a RTS to select your troops or to move the map.. This has alot of potential! _______________ When a Man lies he murder's some part of the world. These are the pale deaths which men misscall there lives. All this I cannot bear to witness any longer.
