In general, higher rates of belief in and worship of a creator correlate with higher rates of homicide, juvenile and early adult mortality, STD infection rates, teen pregnancy and abortion in the prosperous democracies.

The study concluded that the US was the world’s only prosperous democracy where murder rates were still high, and that the least devout nations were the least dysfunctional. Mr Paul said that rates of gonorrhoea in adolescents in the US were up to 300 times higher than in less devout democratic countries. The US also suffered from “uniquely high” adolescent and adult syphilis infection rates, and adolescent abortion rates, the study suggested

Would you mind explaining how that's a pun? I don't see it.

Who is "we" in that sentence? The nation, correct? Well, I find it hard to believe that even half of the nation would say that they truly believe and trust God. When its just a "slogan" as opposed to a real statement of belief, it becomes laughable - a joke - a pun.

I would agree that communisim works perfectly on paper. It's that stupid 'human fallability' thing that screws it all up. :D

Oh, and +5 dexterity to Buzz, that is a BS study. Drawing correlations where there are none.

Communism, as much as I support its ideals, fails to take human greed into account. Humans are utilitarian by nature, and that doesn't fit into an egalitarian society. That being said, communism is awesome, it'll just never work in the modern world.

Imagine a poor guy has 100 dollars, and a rich person has 1,000,000 dollars. For taxes the rich guy will pay more yes, but percentage wise, it doesn't matter to him as much as it means to the poor guy. The poor guy has to pay 100 of all he has for his bills, and the rich guy pays 100 of all he has for his bills. But what about food, gas, & so on? The rich guy has 999,900 left to play with, the poor guy does not.

The poor guy still has to deal with the same amount of percentage but with far less money.

He has big pie, I have small pie. Percentage wise he does pay more money than I because he has more, but it's only a bit of his pie compared to alot of my pie. It's a heck of a difference.

He also probably worked his ass off a lot harder than you did so he could have that 100,000 dollars. He also pays more of it in taxes. He also likely buys more expensive things. And those more expensive things may have the same sales tax percentagewise as the things you buy but he's still giving more money to the government.

What you are complaining about here is the basis of why people think communism is such a good idea. "Make everybody equal" That of course destroys a very large incentive to work harder, work more, and to try and improve oneself.

Yeah, in their evidence, they are only showing a correlation between democracies and crime rate/'immoral acts'. So that wouldn't have anything to do with religion, but mostly with that fact that when given too much freedom, people don't know what to do with it, so things will end in chaos without control. Also there are plenty of factors that they didn't include, like what Buzz said; immigration.

Plo, shut up now. The richest people in the US pay the majority of the taxes. They actually pay a higher percentage than their wealth. Also since the Bush tax cuts the rich are paying a higher percentage of taxes than they were beforehand. The poor are paying less.

Wealth distribution in the US

Of Course they also pay most of the taxes

Great. Seven kids, living off government checks and government cheese, no education, living in squalor, and blaming their problems on anyone but themselves, but hey at least we all have TVs and cars! God bless america! Land of the poor and lazy or rich and indifferent! Yay jesus!

I'd rather be in the U.S. then anywhere else too. Those lower class people with a television and one car also pay more taxes then the rich, our soldiers themselves have to buy they're own armor(wich is part of the time faulty), and they can't even earn a decent living after they went to war for us where they got their leg blown off :(, but it's just a study.

EDIT: Firstly, I agree with Buzz. Secondly...

Well countries who believe that God is on their side are largely deceived. God 'sides' (for want of a better word) with people who follow His will. So you can believe what you like about God being on your side, but if you're not doing His will (as a nation) you can't really expect Him to pick sides. Why would God side with America (for example) against any other country who also couldn't care less for God's principles as a nation. In my opinion, "In God We Trust" is an pun (largely - and not just an American pun but in terms of a national 'belief' for any nation).

(Sorry if that made no sense).

This is what you call, complete BS. Its trying to draw a correlation between things which don't connect. I bet I can make this true too: "The US has one of the highest rates of illegal immigration. This is therefore the reason for the US having such high murder rates."

And for being "worse off" I'd rather be in the US than almost anywhere else. Here, even lower class people tend to have a television set and one car.

I also believe that recently Canada has "become more devout than the US"
