Does anybody know of any good first-person games that are not violent, or at least not too violent?

It may do if you unlock "brushes mode" and "moustaches". Everyone looks like a janitor hitting each other with broomsticks! :P :D

ahh btw... elder scrolls 4 : oblivion is not so first person non-shooter. the ES3 was focused on first person , but ES4 will have third person VERY improved. well that doesnt matter too much... oblivion will be a as violent as ES3 was :)

And I don't know if they sell them any more, and they're definitely NOT first person, but when I was in elementary school I had an absolute ball with The Incredible Machine and Capitalist Pig (Mac Classic game :D).

This game going to be for your kid? Or is it just something you can play while around them?

My eldest is 5, btw. For his age he's intellectually quite advanced but emotionally/socially a bit immature. Droidworks says ages 9+, but I'll probably let him try it out when he's around 7. It looks awesome, and he loves gadgets.

Lego Star Wars doesn't pass the nonviolent test, but I might get Mrs. Java to okay it for him anyway. :)

Yes! I love Droid Works. I got that when I was 8. It's a good non-violent, fun, thinking game.

Not sure about myst, you have to be a special kind of person to enjoy those games. Usually first person games are shooters, which was why they were given this category to themselves, so usually different genres of games don't need to be first person.

But if I can think of any I'll post them here.

I highly recommend Myst and Riven to any gamer young or old, especially those looking for a bit of a brain workout. Haven't played the newer ones, so I can't comment on those.

so yeah morrowind - great choice...
i also suggest the thief games.

The Myst series is an adventure. Point-and-click game and not a first-person non-shooter.
Oh and yea i really liked how youve been able to hit a lil worm 1 out of 10 times at the very beginning of Morrowind. Made combat extremly...intense. >_>

The combat system in Morrowind is... not the best. It's much more an rpg than it is an action rpg, though you kinda need to do the action to stay alive. Good news is, though, they're scrapping the whole 'hit/miss formulas based on weapon skills' for Oblivion. So, no more clicking furiously while your target crosshair is dead-on yet still missing because the game decides you do.

I would go with Morrowind for PC i guess. It really depends if you consider slicing up all sorts of creatures with swords and therelike violant. Well i guess it is...meh.

On second note, you could go with the RPG Arx Fatalis as well. But yea, its actually all about slicing others with swords instead of guns...

Well I'm slight confused by your wording.

I would assume you are talking all action, adventure, platformer games that aren't to violent?

Like Mario or Zelda? also are you talking PC for the PC or any consoles/handhelds included?
