Was Yoda Reworked for Ep 1? | |

I just finished watching the EP3 DVD. On the bonus disk, I think it was the Anakin segment, they showed a clip of Yoda from EP1, where he recited the whole "fear leads to hate...blah blah blah." It caught my attention right away, because it was a digitized Yoda on screen talking, as opposed to the puppet that took so much criticism during the theatrical release. I've owned the Ep1 DVD for a while and it shows Yoda as I saw him in the theater. Am I seeing things or has this been altered in a subsequent release? -Ian _______________ Member #7625 | Since 7.6.04 The Archives |

For Episode 1, they couldn't decide whether or not to do a fully digitized Yoda - they wanted to, but they weren't sure if they could pull it off, nor how well it would work even if they could. Therefore, they did all the close-ups with the puppet, but animated him for the one full-body shot mentioned below. The way that scene turned out paved the way for the animated Yoda's use in the next two films. _______________ Saving the world, one kilobyte at a time. |

You're right. After the fight with Darth Maul, the camera is somewhere near the ceiling, and it looks down on Yoda and Obi-Wan. No one could have moved the puppet (not even with strings) from that point of view, because it would be seen ... of course, as soon as they start talking, the camera-point changes again, so it's the puppet again _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website! Actually there were 2 I believe moments with digital Yoda, one of them was when Yoda was walking back and forth while talking to Obi after the fight with Maul. It was mentioned in the bonus material for EP2, were they were talking about going with full CG Yoda in that episode. _______________ Quote: Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
