Wow, Plagius being the daddio. He wouldn't have needed to actual be the "Dad" as we know it, just manipulate the Force to create life. Just wonder why he chose Shmi Skywalker. BTW, Lucas confirms that Plagues trained him in one of the recent books out. He also states that it was Plagues who is Anakin's daddeh. Anyway, Sidious lied about himself not knowing this power. He uses it on Anakin when Anakin was torched. He only said he didn't know this power to convince Anakin to move against the Jedi Temple, where all secrets and knowledge of the Force is hidden. He uses this power on Anakin anyway when he is dead/near dead in the Episode 3 Novel. As for what comes to the actual thread, NO. Death is, like some of you have said, not avoidable by Palpatine, he has clones of himself which later when he dies were released by his still-so-loyal-minions. Theese clones ofcourse have a fatal drawback, each line of them is weaker and weaker, so basicly to start with, we have a Palpatine weaker than before. By some belief it's a sith called Darth Imperius that is Sidious' master. Imperius has theese 'Kyber crystals' that give you more power in the Force. Sidious find a Kyber Crystal of his own, which is more powerful than any of Imperius' KC's. This ends up in Sidious being more powerful than his master, and results in Sidious killing Imperius.
