You ever notice that the war in Iraq of all the people protesting everyone except the Iraqi people themselves are protesting. They want the U.S. to leave but they just continue to not help us with finding terrorists and insurgents. I know there are people helping the U.S. and I know that there are alos people that people who could give a damn, but all these people that hate the American "wolves" and "infidels" are so blind. Don't they realise that if they were to stop with their hostile acts the U.S. would more than certainly leave, I know that it isnt all them but still it's two-sided (it takes two to tango.) If they had realised this already, the war would have been long over. I don't mean to rub anyone the wrong way or anything. Tell what you think though. I want to know what it is you think.

Sared is right. Achieving peace there is just not possible. The only reason Saddam achieved a relative(!) state of peace in Iraq is cuz of his iron fist politics. Those 3 populations will never get along, as sad as that sounds.

Same thing goes for Israel/Palestina (or even better, Israel/Muslims). The hatred between the Israeli's and Muslims/Palestinians is just rooted too deep into their life/religion/culture.

And that sucks.

It's a little more complex than that. There three people groups, the Shi'ites, the Sunis, and the Kurds, and as long as they live within the same planet or two of each other, there's still going to be voilence, because they aint exatly going to stop fighting with each other anytime soon. You're messing with bitter hatreds that are deeply ingrained into the most basic ways of thier thinking. Feuds, hate, that has lasted since well before you're ancestors were in diapers.

In short, there is no room for pat 'Lets all get along' reasoning. Some of them just aren't going to stop fighting until the others are dead. Period.

Of course, if they could stop attacking us, and leave the whole world out of it, that would be rather convienient. But I'll let you bring that up with them.

I know that I can't judge all middle eastern people by the actions of terrorist and militant groups. But they do have the power to change things. They just don't. They should read up on American history and closely review the time where we stood up and TOOK our country from the british. If we keep shielding these people we are only weakening them to the reality of what their countries are like. We keep stepping in like a savior when I think we are doing more harm. Let them fight their own battles and gain a sense of pride because honestly, I'm sick and tired of hearing about my soldier brothers over there dying for what I think is Bush's quest for better oil prices.

Actually it was Clinton who first said that "He has WMD." It wasn't just Bush, it was the majority of the world who acknowledged he had this stuff. Even those against attacking Iraq acknowledged that he had WMD. Why did they believe he had them? Because back in the early 90's he had his ass handed to him and we knew all the stuff he had. As part of the ceasefire he was required to destroy these weapons under the observance of the UN, and provide documented proof that it was destroyed. Not all of it was destroyed when he kicked out the inspectors so since he didn't provide documentation that the rest was destroyed everyone thought he had them.

Bush wasn't a liar, he just wasn't right. Why wasn't he right? Because the intelligence that everyone agreed on wasn't right.

What we're doing over there now is staying until the Iraqi's can take care of themselves. What I really hope is that definitely by this time next year we have pulled some our soldiers out.

And sauron, it is a simplistic view to believe "if they just stop attacking us and killing civilians, then we'll be able to leave and they'll be happy we're gone." Those over there fighting don't like the government in place there. For the former Ba'athists, its not Saddam and they won't be the ones in power so they want a dictatorship, same with the Syrians. For the Iranians, its not enough of a Shi'ite Theocracy so they don't like that. And for all the general islamofascist terrorists its not a step in the direction of making all muslim countries into their fundamentalist view that would then allow them to reclaim all former muslim lands and begin to conquer the House of War, which is what the Koran calls the rest of the world.

They aren't killing Americans so much as they are killing Iraqis. They are targeting the people of Iraq directly and if they manage to get a few Americans in it's just extra. This war is no longer America vs Iraq or w/e. It's a war about power, fear, religion, uncertainty, and ideals.

I have a lot of friends in the military, and something they all share frustration in is how only half of the story makes it back to us here at home. If you watch TV and read the newspaper, you'd think Iraq is turning into some huge loss for the country. To quote a friend in the 101st, "The only place we're losing the war on terrorism is at home." But along with a casualty rate, people should also consider that today more Iraqis are attending school, drinking clean water, have operating hospitals, and really do have their own government. I think, if this whole thing succeeds, that this will be considered one of the most noble acts of our time.

They aren't killing people in the US to get us to leave their country, though they view that as a positive side-effect. They are killing Americans because they believe their western ways and culture are displeasing to God (Alah), and by killing anyone who doesn't believe in their religion (that means Christians, Jews, non-extremeist Muslims, ect.), they are fulfulling their loyalty to God (Alah).

As long as they view this as righteous, they will keep doing it no matter what the cost, because it is worth it in their eyes.

The US and other countries are protesting because every time the US tries to police or westernize the middle east, it results in warring, rioting, or terrorist movements.
