Tatooine really the middle of nowhere? | |

For the planet farthest from the 'bright center to the universe', very significant things happen there. -Location of a Star Map (I guess Luke wouldn't know about that) -Where Anakin Skywalker chose to become a Jedi -Where the Jedi came in contact with a Sith for the first time in millenia -Site of a Clone War battle (at least according to one game) -Home of Jabba the Hutt, one of the most powerful Hutts and frequent hirer of some of the galaxy's most feared bounty hunters -the Disciples of Ragnos went there, there probably was quite a force aura there with all the important things happening If someone cleared out all the krayt dragons and tuskens and set up regular water stations and tour guides, Tatooine could be a historical monument planet. I wonder what George Lucas intended it to be like. _______________ -Aiddat, the Gran with the green blades. Which is why I said "Note that he says Universe and not Galaxy". Tatooine is on the outer rim of the Galaxy, but the fact that he is talking about the whole Universe shows he is being sarcastic. - Virtue. _______________ Academy Architect |

Quote: I haven't read through the replies on this thread yet, so I don't know if anyone has alread stated this - but: I always thought it to be more literal than that. I always thought that ment Tatooine was on the outer rim.Luke said that merely to describe his feelings and thus give us a little more insight to his character - he was an ambitious, young farm boy who yearned for adventure and excitement. A metaphore, if you will. Let us look at what he actually said: "Well...if there's a bright center to the Universe (note that he says Universe and not Galaxy), then you're on the planet that is farthest from it..." Roughly translated: "If there is a place in the universe where everything is exciting, then you couldn't get further away from it than this planet". - Virtue.
