Just so you guys know, the JA has had a folding at home team for awhile now you can see our stats over at: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=31419 the only problem is, our founder hasn't updated our information. It is technically not bad for your cpu to be doing this and its a pretty safe way to donate your free time. Anyway, for those of you who are wondering it is just a client you download and run in the background, if you need to play a game or something cpu intensive just turn it off for awhile. _______________ "this is Icco. Werd. All updated. Has the new site and new logo. I got the e-mail and login changed. So keep on rockin'. I'll get things moving on that site, and may get some admin to plug this also. I did find the username and password. But I have to enter in the "founder e-mail address" Looking over my notes from 2 years ago (and the requests made) there was a typo with the e-mail address. So I'm trying once again to have the e-mail address changed. Have made contact with the admins/mods. Will wait for things to be updated. I founded the team. I could never update the info because the passwordd was something that doobie chose, and I can't remember what he had me use as a password. If they would do the calculation on one pc, it would take them 30 years to complete it. But now, you can download some program, whcih allows your CPU to do a part of that calculation, hoping to diminish the timespan of 30 years as much as possible. By downloading a simple program, folding will be done in the background, at a certain usage-percentage of the CPU you specify. So it does not slow your pc down at all. When your computer finishes your part of folding, it sends the results to the makers of the program. If this project is succesful, they can cure cancer ... that makes it worthwhile, especially since I just lost someone to cancer who was very dear to me ... _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website!
