basicly our last piece of GCSE english coursework was a 'original writing' piece. For it i did a fan fic of GW, i spent literally hours and hours of my week break on it, and i got a lot of enjoyment out of writing it. in english today our teacher says she needs to talk to me and 2 other people basicly she thinks that we all downloaded our essays off the internet, because... well i dont actually really know why she thinks it, i guess cuz they were all Astar (top grade) and we had only got a C in our last ones. but its friging ridiculous, because if she signs this thing saying that she doesnt think a piece of coursework was done by me, the exam board will look into it and all that. if they think i didnt do it, then i am kicked out of all my GCSE exams... this would basicly fuck up the rest of my life and everything.. im not sure i'd even be allowed to take them next year or sumthing. she was talking to us about it, and i was always looking her in the eye, and honestly saying that i did do the piece of course work, and that because it was fantasy (what im totally intreseted in) thats why i spent so long on it, and was good at it. but meh, i cant tell if she believes me or not so i guess for all the other english exams, coursework homework blah blah im gunna have to get top marks with it  ,i was just wondering what you guys thought about this? and any advice you could give me would be apreciated. thanks. -mini _______________ [proud owner of talions 200th, 700th,1111th coment AND 1400th , DJK's 3001th coment! , saz's 400th coment! liso's 800th coment! Man, you will be fine, honestly - don't worry. ^^ Also, personally I believe that GCSEs are VERY important (might be because I'm taking them this summer like Mindrith). We have been told that when you apply to Universities in Lower Sixth, then they will be looking mainly at your GCSE results, since they don't really have anything stronger to go on at that time. Or at least something like that. For example - if you have a B in your GCSEs it is unlikely that a top university such as Cambridge will look at you due to the huge amount of competition. We have even be told As might not be good enough for such universities and that A*s may be needed -_- Oh hurrah! Work! ^^ Anyway, yeah, Rdbest/Optime _______________ ------------------------ |

Well i was speechless at first hearing this, because it is utterly outrageous. No draft of the work was taken in, as it should of been to spot something like that. The teacher does not sound as if it has been at all supportive, on the contrary it still wants to put Mini in for investigation even if he puts the disclaimer thing on the work. I read this, and its a great peice of work, very well written. I don't understand how our education system can allow orginal writing to go punished for no good reason, when there are people out there writing turd, or sneakily copy and pasting sections off the net on Shakespear or something. ***update*** my mum went to see my teacher today, and because i had forgot to put "all rights reserved to blah blah all characters places etc are properties of blah blah" its copyright. and well she said that i can re-put it in with that writen on it but she still wont say the the exam board that she thinks its mine. which means they will investigate it and i quote "if they find even 2 words the same, in the same order they wont investigate further they will just kick you out of your GCSEs, no questions asked" so thats pretty fucked up tbh... now i have to do that coursework again, most likely non-fiction (which is utter crap) so this doesnt happen again. and there goes my Astar coursework _______________ [proud owner of talions 200th, 700th,1111th coment AND 1400th , DJK's 3001th coment! , saz's 400th coment! liso's 800th coment! While it is true GCSE's are over hyped, they are still important. I only just got on the courses i wanted at college when i scraped through my exams, and that was on a special option i arranged at my interview. He's right. Companies are more interested in experience nowadays. That stigma is pure bs. Failing exams aren't the end of the world...And hey, don't look on the bad side. I bet your paper will get passed. Oh and don't worry they would never be able to kick you out of GCSE's for this as you really have not got it from the internet, i remember you saying how fun it was to write etc. and without actual proof i could never see them being able to disalow you from your exams.
