Beating Grip Kickers | |
Ian Jandos - Student |
Every so often in my CTF exploits I run into a group of force users who exist solely for the purpose of FFA'ing flag carriers. I suppose part of the problem is that there are usually 2-3 of them. One will catch me with grip, then when I apply my absorb, one of them will do the pull/kick maneuver repeatively until I die or fall down, then another will stab me or saber throw while I try to get up. I have found that if I don't stand directly in front of them and work to get close enough I can usually saber the mess out of them, but this pull kick is very annoyoing. What are good counters/tactics for beating these kind of attackers. -Ian _______________ Member #7625 | Since 7.6.04 The Archives |

I suppose it's more of a FFA question anyway, because sometimes during a CTF game you just want to mix it up because that's what they're waiting for...but good points Virt. -Ian _______________ Member #7625 | Since 7.6.04 The Archives This comment was edited by Ian Jandos on Apr 22 2006 06:23pm. |

Counters are often generally taught in classes anyway. |

That is very impressive Virtue. I don't play CTF myself, but what you just said is pretty brilliant really. It makes me realise that I do absolutely nothing with this game you know. What about a class dedicated to 'counters' I'd guess you'd call them. That would be awesome. Or is there a post dedicated to the moves? Well, there's a couple of things you could do, not saying they would all work famously, but they're something to try, I guess. What about Mind Trick? In CTF, people will set their Force Powers up specifically so that they can best manipulate the current sutuation - for Dark Siders it'd be Grip, Drain, Push, Pull, Speed, Saber Throw etc. Most of these would be on full rank... not many people would bother with Force Seeing, as CTF in JK3 is too fast to worry about it... People can't pull+kick what they can't see. Another one is using Absorb to break the Grip, then Protect to fend off the kicking while using your Lightsaber to damage the kickers. If you're using the Standard Lightsaber, you could do a Blue Kata, then simply have people pull you over to them with it... you may still get kicked, but you'd damage them more than they'd damage you... hence, they'd die before you would. Also, crouchwhore alot with whatever Lightsaber or Stance you're using. In order to kick, one would need to double-tap the jump button - when you are standing up, they don't need to double-tap very quickly because they have a large target... but if you're crouching, if they tap jump once, you may be too low for them to catch you with the second tap of jump. Making it so that if they wanted to kick you, they'd have to double-tap jump very fast to pull it off. Lastly, make sure you're swinging all the time, especially when crouching (I know it's CTF, you should be running for home, not crouching. But hey, if you find yourself in this situation, you need to make sure you're safe before you carry on running, right?) when you're swinging, Force Pull is 100% effective on you, so you'll be pulled right into them, while attacking, combine the speed that your body is travelling with the velocity of your Lightsaber swings and you'll hit them quite hard, especially with a combo. Plus you'll be harder to kick if you're crouching. Just a few ideas that you could use, try them all or none at all, they're all free! Strafe Jumping isn't the problem, getting pull-whorred is It's basically people who aren't there to have their own fun. JA+ doesn't bother me either, but is there a good counter? -Ian _______________ Member #7625 | Since 7.6.04 The Archives |
