I guess I should attempt to resolve whatever concern has arisen in this thread.

I think the main reason people were a bit thrown by the whole "Kenwan" thing with this comic was because this was the first issue of the comic. If issue #5 of this comic had been this one, I don't think anyone would have cared too much, because we know what it's all about. But since this is the very first issue, it's like *BAM!*, in your face with the Kenwan thing and people are getting confused as to the intent of the comic.

It's funny because it's topical. And as Zeke has said, it's not going to be a series of "Kenwan dies in retarded ways" comics.

And Alex: I didn't know that Kenwan thought that I hated him. I had alot of chats with him and actually helped him out through a few things JA related, as a result, he actually got better for a while and was a good kid.
I lost all respect for him when he decided to throw it all back in my face though and purposely get himself banned doing stupid things.

The staff of the JA, even if we do not like someone, we will not go out of our way to humilliate or flame an individual - proof of this stands in this thread as a few JATs have questioned it's intent.
This comic is far from official JA stuff though, and it's not offensive - it's simply one man's experiences with an individual, fictionalised and exadurated to make humuorous.

On that note, though; the JATs are the next step down from JAC, and when there is no JAC around to intervene, then a JAT's word is the law of the land, so please respect their wishes. They are after all doing their jobs and trying to make sure no-one gets offended.

So seeing as a few JATs have already posted here and they all agree on the matter, I'm not going to post here saying the exact opposite, making them all look like morons whos opinions don't matter...

So I'll say this:

Be VERY careful about what you say and do, no matter who you are. This comic for example - is funny and alot of people like it. It can also, however be interpreted in another way and look offensive to someone (or a group of people). So if you're going to do something like this, then make sure you explain very clearly it's intent.

What's the problem? It's just a bit of fun. You don't see proffesional entertainers getting shot for pounding president Bush into the ground right? In my opinion Kenyon is right. The reason why this is quite funny is because we know the people who are in it. I thought it was rather funny, not to mention, well made :q

Yep, i'm sure a fair few people didn't know him, and hell a fair few more didn't like him, or found him irritating. Im not in contact with Kenwan anymore despite knowing him a long time. However he had a lot of character, was a nice guy generally, and well to some people (perhaps mainly newer people) he's a bit of a legend really, just for being Kenwan, wether thats good or bad i have no idea.

I mean look at this, the thread has practically turned into a kenwan discussion thread!

While i know what Sete means, Kenwan himself used to say that he thought Virtue hated him, even if it wasn't true. He also pulled some amusing stunts in his time here, so the fall is perhaps apt, and Zeke has said he plans to focus on more people when he gets time anyway.

I was looking around the forums a bit because I don't personally know a Kenwan - and then found out that he was banned. I would've suggested the lad make a post himself on the thread to show how he feels about it, and that's the end of the trouble.

As it is, we have several people sticking up for him because he can't do it himself. Making jokes about a banned member is always a touchy area, even if the jokes are harmless (like they are in the comic). If Kenwan reads this: I thought the comic was very funny, the situation was pretty funny and I hope you don't feel insulted!

As for Setementor's suggestion that the names be replaced with fictious counterparts: please no. Most of the humour is derived from the fact that we know these people. Otherwise it'd be just another generic (but well crafted) comic. I could understand the need to change Kenwan's name, but to go to extremes and anonymize a comic because 'that certainly won't upset anyone' is an insult to humour in general and certainly an insult to our community. We're mature enough to relate, and those of us that aren't should be brought up to speed and realize that we're generally very nice people who feel secure enough to crack a few jokes. That isn't a very diplomatic statement I'm making, but it's one I very firmly believe in.

I must admit i did have a great chuckle reading the comic also, its very creative and very lighthearted which is great to see

However i must agree with sete on the content ever so slighty. Please definatly dont take this the wrong way on our behalf but im sure you can all understand the angle from which sete presents his concerns. Remember that regardless of status the JA is a place where respect for each other is heald very highly and we dont want any folks getting upset orfeel they are under personal attack.

With that said, i think i may have another read before i go to bed......it does make me giggle.

I wouldn't call this a personal attack on Kenwan at all, especially seeing that it happened on the servers.

I think it's a great shame to see Zekes comic coming under fire too. Finally, a genuinely unique idea appears which is fun and amusing, and it's shot down in an attempt to prevent flaming.

Okay, I'm going to be fair. It's very, very well made. The way it has been set makes it pretty funny. SO very well done on that part, Zeke.

Now, let's think about it otherwise. Kenwan is just a human being like anybody else. He has feelings and emotions too. Sure he may have annoyed a lot of people, then just went a little too far, but he has got what he needed for now. We should just leave him to sort out his problems now. Provoking him further isn't very nice at all. Would you like to have a lot of people consider you annoying and complain about you until you get so sick you get yourself banned on purpose, then visit the site again to see people making comics of you killing yourself in a very dumb way, and everybody laughing at you because of that?

To me, that would be terrible, whether the intent was personal or not. But let's replace the "that would be terrible" with "that is terrible", because it seems it has actually happened. I don't mean to take any fun out of this, but when you look at it as though you are that person, you should realise how truly disrespectful it can be.

So wouldn't the best thing when making something like this be to use fictional characters and events?

I'm not trying to compete or out do acey, it just wouldn't be fair. His comics require a bit more work in the way that you need people to act. I used ragdolls in Garrys mod.
