I will oppose this to the death. You don't get people on the Academy servers who attack you, put their saber down, and then whine to an admin when you attack them back. THOSE are the people that I have a problem with. I don't mind what people do, but they shouldn't force it on other people. "WTF! Kicking is cheap!" "Why don't you bow you fag?" Sorry MoS, ave to disagree with ya... I'm not going to write why all those rpg thingy's add more fun n stuff... just stating that I like JK2 esspecially because of this "Code"... But ofcourse u don't have to overdo it, chatkill is just stupid but things like hitting someone when u got him down on the ground is no problem (for the guys here that don't know: if u are laying on the ground just hold your jump button, u will stand up very quick and you will hardly or even not get hit) _______________ ~~ Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none! ~~ |

Yeah you realise thats a joke though right ? Course you did I'm not saying I agree with the standard honour code that people use, I'm just saying that A LOT of people use it and conform to it, and there are loads and loads of servers out there that use it, so I think its quite important to mention it, as it makes up a large proportion of players in the JKII community. Theres loads of different variations of the code but they all focus on a few key elements, even the academy rules stem from these. - No chatkilling - No excessive kicking, or no kicking at all - No hitting 'downed' players - No attacking unarmed These were created by players, not in the rules of the game, so they don't need to be followed. I would think so BUT...
In my opinion, the "saber code" has ruined the game. People have tried to put all these role playing aspects into a game and force it upon others. If I want to watch people duel, I go to a duel server. If I want to kill everyone in my sight, I go to a FFA server. That's the way it should be. One step ahead of yah That will be included, but won't be emphasised as 'THE RULES YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW' as that just isn't true. The honour code will include stuff like no kick spamming in duels, not hitting someone whose downed, no chat killing, no attacking unarmed etc. This is just so players will know what to expect if they go on a public which has rules like this, as they are pretty much along the same lines.

hehe... I get what u mean: in duels the only thing u have to know is saber moves and they are allready described, from ctf we make an own section coz there are not only moves but allso tactics, there is no need to do that for duel (and ffa) because there are no tactics for those gametypes.....
well, if I say duels and ffa do have tactics u ask ofcourse which and then I might not be able to come with a big list (although I know some) so maybe I'm wrong, yup, ok, never mind then (btw don't get me wrong: I'm just trying to have some critism coz it can help improving the project and we must be sure we cover Everything ) _______________ ~~ Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none! ~~ |

Jake - My thoughts, too. Cyb - What I meant by that is, DJ seems to want to take a little more control and have us do our work inside JA as well. Not off-site like we were talking about previously. So, if he's able to do what we need, if may be redundant to have the other site. We'll see. But you can most certainly help edit! Just talk to underhill, and he'll fill you in. EVERYONE - Right now, it seems just group e-mailing is the way we're going edit-wise. If that works ok for everyone, so be it. Just a suggestion: when I edit what someone sent me, I don't delete the original...I either highlight it the needed change, or put the addition in highlights. This will make it easier for the originator to figure out what needs to be fixed. ALSO: I rename and resave the document with ruuk_edit_whateverdoc.doc in front so it stands out from the rest of 'em. ok, good work jake. A little report from my section: i've finished the blue stance, since there are no combos in there, and I only had to do specials (lunge and backstab). I also did an inrtoduction about stances and the differences between them. I'm working on the combos for yellow now, which is kinda the hardest part for me, because i'm not such a big yellow fan. duel and FFA are like the main topics which the holcron covers. Duel is all saber (no one playes duels with guns, EVER ) so thats covered in the saber section. FFA is jsut general stuff, and as there is no objective other than to kill everyone else, there aren't really any tactics, except lightning spamming groups of combatants, stuff like that.
so basically, all of the other sections cover FFA, movement and stuff, thats FFA ,weapons, thats FFA, force, thats FFA. Get what I mean. As for duel, some full force tactics could be listed. I'm gonna write up a document now of all the gameplay types, including duel and FFA. Ruuk I can ofcourse integrate everything everywhere but I would need upload rights for that.. so not sure if it will work out anyway. The stuff about making the website, I can do that but I think (if I see this site) that there are ppl in the academy who can do that better than me. Some other thing I wanted to note is that if this project has to become good we need imput from more ppl than only one or two for every section... that's why I'd like to become editor too (like fizz) allso because I'm more from outside the academy which could be useful... I dont HAVE to ofcourse but I'd just like to help. Last thing I want to say: I might miss a section.. we have a section for every gametype but not for the most used one: duels (in FFA), I know we have a moves section n stuff but as in ctf there are allso tactics in duels (not that much as in ctf coz in ctf there are sooo many I can hardly think that we can write them all down) so shouldnt we have a duel tactic section or am i a bit wrong about that... anyway for tactics about every gametype goes that everyone has others so we need to work together with many ppl I'd say.... PROJECT STAFF:
I've been in consultation with doobie and DJ. They want the Holocron Project to be more integrated into the JA site, with admin permissions given to certain individuals (believe it or not). He asked what else we needed, and he will try to provide. I told DJ about the separate off-site forum (that Cyb created) for editing official project text. If I'm reading him right, he's going to construct this for us here within JA. Expectations: it would be private to the staff, with individual section upload rights for each section leader, universal upload rights for underhill (as primary editor). All staff as well as JAC/T/K's would be able to view, comment, and perform secondary editing. I asked about having some sort of editing features (similar to that of MS Word) that would allow strikethrough, text addition, and comments. Perhaps using different colors and having the name of the person after each edit. I'm not sure if this is going to be possible. We'll see what he comes up with. If you have any additional ideas on this, questions, or comments/criticism please provide your input here... Thanks. Things are moving along well. Once we're done with the JK2 Holocron, and after enough time passes, we'll probably have to start working on the JK3 section of the Holocron. But that will be a ways off...
