Why has there been no thread for this movie? Anyway, discuss here. I saw it the day it came out and thought it wasn't a bad movie but just a little slow for the first half hour to an hour. Action was great and story was okay. Thoughts? _______________ Brother to Luke Skywalker and (SKX) Dark Blade

Yeah there was a whole story arc around that where it was Doomsday that killed him. I think when Kevin Smith was being looked at as the director, that was the movie he wanted to make. As for the spoiler. Don't forget he was exposed to a lot of kryptonite and so he could have died. Well, it was worth seeing, but the story was choppy and assumed too much of the viewer. I like the new actor, although Reeves is irreplaceable, Routh is similar in many ways and seemed to be decent at acting unlike other marquee roles (*cough Anakin). Jesus guys, your just missing the obvious problem with the movie. Christopher Reeve isn't in it. There will never be anyone who can replace him. He IS The Man of Steel, and he was taken before his time, God Bless Him. Brandon Routh.............nose is too big. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to let a bunch or pretty and expensive graphics distract me away from the fact that it was an incredibly mediocure movie. The story was good, yes, but it never really grabbed me. I never found myself on the edge of my seat or wondering what was going to happen next. Also, the characters, though accurate and well placed, were very shallow. The character of superman especially, and when he was disguised as Clark Kent, there still wasn't any more depth. I guess I like movies where you get to know the character better. It makes you care about them more when things turn for the worst. The acting was good, the story was good, the writing was good. Not great. The only thing that was really great was the animation, which seems to be getting way too prevolent these days. It just seems that everything is animated, and people are so amazed by the stunning visuals, they ignore the fact that the movie might not even be that good. All in all, it was a movie I'd like to see one or two times tops. Also: Quote: ***UBER SPOILER WARNING GOMGOM*** Anyone else notice the biblical references? After Superman lifted that huge crystal thing into space, when he died, he looked just like Jesus on the cross. Also when he was talking about the father becoming the son and son becoming the father, isn't that like the trinity? Plus Lex talking about god in the beginning. Anyway I enjoyed it, tbh didn't even notice the long opening credits, those planets looked pretty cool The thing with the dogs was............weird. Kinda a stretch on the first one that they did that on purpose, and nah, that doesn't really work on the second one. And I agree. Great movie!! Regardless of the little things, the overall story was an attention grabber, and keeper. Didn't like the background story on why he "returned". Based on that he should have never left, he would/should have known the exact location of what he was looking for, as he did in print. I totally loved it but I wish some of the pacing was a little better. Some scenes felt a little too long and probably should have been edited down. Also it felt like I was watching a daytime soap opera with all the thrown in subplots. Overall pretty good. Cape was too dark, and plain. Isn't the cape supposed to have the S insignia? Also I don't know it its because the actor is too tall or just too long of a torso but it just didn't look right to me. His S was too small, possibly from him not having as broad a chest as previous Superman.
