I am writing this after 41(ish) hours without sleep and I dont plan to sleep tonight much either, and its all down to KOTOR being so damn addictive. I just wanted to say this, cos supposedly if you last 70 something hours without sleep you begin to hallucineate (dunno how to spell that) which I think would be quite fun. Anyways, just thought I should let you know and, well Farewell!"

It's pretty much self-explanatory.

A few of them have happened as a result of WoW, actually - I only know of a few of them personally, but I do know that there are lots.

One other WoW related one would be that a guy was playing WoW religously, he would eat and sleep, but not regularly. He stopped going to work and basically dedicated his entire life to his WoW toons.
Anyways, one night he apparantly formed a huge group for some instance battle and looted some of the best equipment in the game - he'd been after the equipment for ages apparantly.
But once he got out of the instance, he got PK'd by someone and looted. He was so distressed by this that he actually shot himself. :/

I'm sure if you googled it, you'd find a bunch of stories like this.
Alot of them are just rumours - but some of them are actualy true. As far as I know, the stories I have told here are true. I researched them as much as I could.

A kid who played WoW went for about 4 days without sleep - not because he was trying, but simply because he lost all track of time and was focussed entirely on the game.

His parents found him lying face down on his keyboard with blood coming out of his nose and ears.

He died of exhaustion.

I'm going to have nightmares tonight, where'd you learn about this?

I've hardly ever heard of a Computer game related death, how are they so common?

this is why you should give yourself a few rules, e.g. if im playing an addictive game i like to take a break every two hours or so, take a walk outside for a bit etc. that way i can stay focused.
I've never felt the need to stay up all night playing a video game :O although i cannot concentrate very well without sleeping 36hours, i just sleep i canot concentrate on anything :P
I think your friend should just chill it, take a break from the game for a day or two, spend that time with his friends... or he could end up like that WoW kid :(

I think I agree with Kenyon. I've stayed up so many hours before that I couldn't concentrate much at all, I couldn't do anything even slightly complex without great difficulty, most of my head felt pretty much turned off inside, so bad that I wanted to just fall on my bed and go straight to sleep than continue with what was keeping me awake for so many hours. But that was when I hadn't had much sleep the previous nights and had stayed up for way too many hours without sleep. It's not the most pleasant experience, I must admit, but I was very much eager to entertain myself instead of sleep at the time. Eventually you can't help it though, so I'm sure your friend won't be up forever either.

Well, i couldnt possibly enjoy a game whilst beeing half-asleep. The unability to focus properly would result in missing out on a few details in the story and so on. I'd rather go to sleep and continue later because the gaming experience will be better if youre completly aware of whats happening imo.

That happens to me from time to time - not only with KOTOR, but with any great game - I'll not touch it for a couple months, then I'll have a couple days off work, and BAM - 30 straight hours on (e.g.) Starcraft, or RollerCoaster Tycoon, or (though it ashames me) Pokémon...
