Well, information about NWN2 has been out for a long time now. I just never seen any mention of it on the forums!

The best part of NWN was the fact that you could make your own game (module) and other people could download it and play it. You could also make a module and then use it in multiplayer. Whatever your odd needs: CTF, Arena, Roleplay, Standard RPG, Hack&Slash- NWN had it if you made it.

Before I started playing WoW (which I don't anymore! You can tell if you read any one of my posts when I rant about WoW) I played on NWN servers. The thing about NWN was it had plenty of PWs (Persistent Worlds) which are like MMORPGs. They difference between them and MMORPGs today is that the world couldn't be seamless and the graphics were sort of anti-revolutionary. Another difference is that you could be Dungeon Master for a PW and act as NPCs and everything else. Most of the PWs were Roleplaying, so that's probably why Neverwinter Nights made me giddy like a schoolgirl.

In fact, a long time ago I saw that playing NWN was a pretty common thing on the JA. Interest in it just didn't become public anymore.

Well, Neverwinter Nights 2 is being made by Obsidian, the same people who worked on KOTOR2. (I guess Obsidian goes to Bioware whenever Bioware's games need a sequel. ;)) One of the biggest things about it is the fact that they kept the game engine, but completely ripped out the old graphics engine and put a new one in. In Neverwinter Nights 1, the exteriors and interiors were all tile-based and boring. In Neverwinter Nights 2, you can (unlike NWN1) raise and lower terrain and paint textures onto it. It's no longer tile-based OMG YAY!
Compare screenshots - here and here.

Interiors are still tile-based, but they look great either way.

Screenshot comparison - here and here. They even have ceilings now!

Dialogue is also cinematic-based like KOTOR1&2, as opposed to NWN1's dialogue box and here. (Note: Player models have received treatment since the time of release of this screenshot.)

But the thing that made NWN1 successful was the toolset. You can see the new toolset in action in 18 different videos  here!

This has got me pumped. Who wants to play some NWN?! :D

NWN came out before i really got into RPG games, however since KotOR i have been interested. I never got around to playing the first, although since i heard about #2 my curiosity has once again been piqued. I might well get this when it comes out.

Oh and i knew so little about NWN i never even realised it had online play. :o

I've had my eye on NWN2 since the first annoncement. I still play NWN on a regular basis. And I am working like a dog to get money for a new system. I am going to need it for NWN2.

I'm quite looking forward to NWN2 as well. Playing NWN online was a rather long phase in my gaming career, and though I did participate in one PW before it fizzled out (:() my "claim to fame," as it were, was simply playing the single player campaign over and over and over again on the same server with the same friends...

I got really good at that campaign.
