I've just finished playing Knights of the Old Republic 1 for the first time, and loved it. Being about 3 years behind on these games, does anyone know if a third one will be released?

It's probably been asked hundreds of times but I've never followed these games until now.

Second hand is really the only way to get it. also, I know the have like " Skip Doctors" or something to clean up scratches on the disk. I bought mind second hand and it was in pretty good condition. I've yet to come across any freezes, etc., which can happen even with a new CD..

Thanks, that's all I need to know.

Problem is I can't buy this game anywhere. It's sold out at amazon and game. And no, I don't want it second hand. :P

Aside from the droids, which were already mentioned, you cant enlist anyone else who was in your KotOR1 party. You may run into a few of them on certain planets, although I'm not sure if lightside or darkside allignment plays any part in this as I have only finished the game with a lightside ending.

Really? I didnt get that option.. Hmm.. I'll have to go replay KotOR 2. Was that on a PC or an XBox? I dont see why that would effect it, but they soemtimes leave things out depending on what you play it on.

As for Eica, you run into a few characters from KotOR1, but you arent able to take them into your party, etc.

Not really.. no matter what, in KotOR 2 the story is that Revan sided with and saved the Republic (light side neding in KotOR 1). The only think you really decided is what gender Revan was. I haven't played it as a female, but I know in the first level you meet someone who says Revan was female and you have the option to say that Revan was a male character. I know the canonical KotOR 1 story is that Revan was a male, and sided with the Republic. Whereas I think the canonical ending for KotOR 2 is taht The Exile was female, not sure on that though.

Untrue. You get to make choices in the same conversation which decide if revan was LS or DS at the end of kotor1.

That's alright I suppose, seeing as that's what I did in KOTOR 1. Are any of the other characters from KOTOR 1 in this one?

No spoilers though please :P

So basically you choose at the beginning of KOTOR 2 what happened to your character in the first game?

I'm not going to give you any spoilers (and everyone else should be nice little boys and girls to not give any spoilers either  ) but I will say that Revan plays a large role in KOTOR2. What you have done in KOTOR1 is not forgotten.

Besides, the Jedi Exile is awesome. :D

Ok, I need some information on KOTOR 2 before I buy it.

What I've gathered is: you play as someone completely different who was kicked out of the jedi order and the only two characters from the original are the two droids.

Bah, I was hoping Revan & Bastila etc would be in it :(

Yeah same here, i enjoyed the endings to KotOR1 as well, dramatically different in some ways as well, isn't that right Mission, Zaalbar & Carth? :P

Oh and yeah Big companies often seem desperate to get a game out for the chrimbo rush, what was particularly vexing about KotOR2 was that its PC version was not released until Feburary, yet with no added extras like KotOR1.

I thought the endings ( ) for KOTOR1 were good... particularly because they were actually endings.

If KOTOR3 is revealed next year at the start of Q3, LucasArts will be stupid and force them to make it come out at Christmas again.

People were working on the third installemnt of the series a whileback, however, a while back, Lucas Arts fired a bunch of employees. Many of these employees were on the team working on KotOR3.

I hated the ending of KOTOR one too. I don't see why Lucas Arts would put on hold a new KOTOR just for a bit of bad press. It's the best Star Wars game I've played since JK2.

Well let's hope there's a third one :(

Still, no matter what you hear about KOTOR2, people, you should still play it. It's a really good game until the last ten minutes or so, which hardly count as endings. You might want to hold off on it until the TSLRP comes out, though. Then you'll have an actual ending. ;)

Indeed i agree with Lian here. I have actually replayed 2 more than 1 for some reason.

Oh and yeah it might be worth waiting until TSLRP comes out, as they have said recently they are about 80% complete, without delays it could be out for chirmbo /crossfingers!

Aha well you are most correct in thinking it has been asked to death ;)

There have been a lot of threads in the 'star wars' section of the forums about it in fact.

Well i shall try to give you the information we know that i can think of (sadly its not a large amount):
-KotOR2 was released to mixed acclaim, many regarding it highly, others enjoying it but despairing at it being released before it was complete, and others not liking it at all. This meant that as far as anyone can see LA put it behind games that tied into the movies in terms of money makers.

-A good reason to think this is due to the belief (as far as i know this is 100% true) that work was started on 3 not long after 2 was released, however after its resuffle it seems LA put the project on hold indefinetly, we now no longer even know who would be making the game (Obsidian? Bioware? Someone Else?).

However the fact that LA have remained tightlipped about the series is one reason to hope they will bring it back, it still seems likely considering its popularity. There are other reasons too, for example Dark Horse comics have recently released a new series called 'Knights of the Old Republic', set not long before the events of the game, and eluding to parts of it such as Taris, and the Mandalorian Wars. Another reason is the fan support for the games, fans were so detirmined to play KotOR2 as it was meant to be, that a group of modders have been working hard to reconstruct the many missing areas of the game, you can find links & info Here.

My own opinion, is that despite the complete lack of information regarding a third game, i can see it being released at some point - its much more likely than another game titled Jedi Knight or Dark Forces. LA and LF usually like to wrap storylines up in neat little trilogies anyway..

/endwaffle! :D
